Kate Middleton and Prince William, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, plus Pippa, attended a small country wedding Saturday, in Bishops Lydeard, Somerset. Or did they? The locals are all agog over the story, which all the major news sources—including roaming paparazzi—seem to have missed. Kate and Pippa are definitely friends with the bride, Alice St John Webster, whom they know from Marlborough College. The bride's family lives near Bishops Lydeard, reports the The West County gazette. She married Gerald Avenel in an afternoon ceremony with some 300 guests—likely including the future king.
The truth of the Kate-sighting was confirmed in church on Sunday morning, sources report, and by the local newspaper. Kate Middleton and Prince William were seen inside and outside the church, and "Kate looked stunning!" Gossip had been buzzing since a group of teenaged girls ran screaming across the lawn, as if a reincarnation of the Beatles had appeared. "It was really exciting and there were a lot of villagers out." Locals lined the streets, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Royal pair, and traffic went "all choc-a-bloc".
Kate Middleton has many friends, and they all seem to be getting married. She tries to keep her own appearance at weddings somewhat quiet, so as not to upstage the bride. So it is entirely possible this one slipped by the regular sources. The one possible false note? A blurry picture seems to show Duchess Catherine in a pink, print dress. Does Kate Middleton ever wear print?
