It's 106 here in central NC as well. Sort of reminds me of West Texas back in the 1950s when I was a youth. Of course now we have air conditioning, thank goodness. I feel for the poor folks who must work hard outside these days.

I do too. It's not pretty out there at all. And all the troubles everyone's having with brush fires. My dad's sister in Colorado and I'm hearing rumors that there's one starting here in Bon Air. Thankfully that's a few miles out.

At least fires now mean far less chance of another fire for at least a year or two while the trees and brush grow back. With the heat there's no such silver lining.

There's really not. I'm just sorry for those who have to evacuate and have a high possiblity of loosing their homes. Not to mention those who already have to suffer through the loss.

The only thing about those homes being burned is that when you build your home in the woods you have to expect forest fires. They are part of the natural order. It's like having a house at the beach here in NC. There will be a hurricane and you risk your house being destroyed.

(I'd go for tile roofs and brick exterior if I were building in the woods. :-) )

The fires all over the West are heartbreaking, and the flooding in Florida and Alabama is heartbreaking, too. The dang heat is HELLISH! Hev, this is unreal. With the heat index, it was over 110 here today. It's supposed to be hotter tomorrow. It has made me tired. I worked at my volunteer job at the Food Bank today and I felt so sorry for the folks who had to come and get food. Too hot to deal with all that, but they needed food. I hope you are staying hydrated and staying inside.

Trying to anyway. Some things just need to be done outside but we try to wait for that sun to go down. Tomorrow is going to be difficult as we're going to go out yardsaling and then try to hit our food bank. Until my husband and I start bringing in money it really helps us a lot. So on behalf of my family we appreciate the work you do to help put those foodbanks together.

Daddy's is the best tea around. And of course I have the best book collection around. And no no one in this house is allowed to borrow them. You people are guilty of book abuse.
