Many of us adults have noticed how things that were popular when we were kids are making a comeback for our kid's generation. Be it in toys, movies, clothing you name it, it's coming back (and usually not in a better form than the original) but, I digress.
Take the recent remakes of classic kid's cartoons. These remakes, of course are called "reboots" (to make them more appealing to a PC savvy generation?) and often are filled with dance/rap music to make the movies more 'hip' and relevant to the current generation. I don't know about you, but almost all of these movies are not as good as the originals. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. I will admit that a select few are worthy 'reboots.' The latest in this trend is the forthcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) reboot. Hey, I liked the turtles growing up. I still have my NES and old school gameboy games of them, but I think I'll pass on this movie, lol.
I will admit that I do enjoy the Alvin and the Chipmunk movies despite the rapping that they added to their songs. I dislike the character Ian, though for making them go all 'bling and cool.' Other than that they are one of the better remakes that I've seen out there.
Then there's Hollie Hobbie. Once a little girl in an oversized hat and prairie skirt is now sporting jeans and looking oh so hip. Just not the same for me. I'll always favor the original, what about you?
What do you think? Are the 'reboot' movies better than the originals? What ones do you find to be worthy of watching? Weigh in below.
