Will the talk about Aishwarya Rai's post-pregnancy weight ever end? Okay, it is understandable that some people have a warped sense of "perfection" and that they expect the Bollywood superstar to be the ideal, but has all of this weight talk gone too far?
With the Cannes film festival around the corner, Aishwarya Rai will again be at the center of the red carpet discussion. Some will ask when the former Miss World, and 38-year-old Bollywood superstar will lose the baby weight. Somehow this is a more important question than when will she be back working on movies.
Can someone just give Ash a break? It has been a whopping 6 months. Somehow, she is supposed to drop actually taking care of her newborn and bounce back into some sort of "ideal" look.
"Aishwarya is like a goddess," admits at least one writer, Shobhaa De. "She is held up as the ideal of beauty and so there is an expectation on her to look perfect at all times."
An expectation? Really? Clearly some expectations are warped. Take for instance a recent comment from a "fan" that says that Aishwarya has a "duty to look good and fit."
One thing is for certain, the only "duty" that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has is to her family and her own health. As far as her weight is concerned, the only person that Ash needs to answer to is herself. The rest of the fans that are criticizing her can just stuff it.
