The Wimbledon 2012 schedule continues with more live streaming and televised coverage of the tennis action from England on Friday 6/29. The latest matches for Day 5 of the tourney will include more possible surprise upsets, just like the one that happened in the men's tournament on Thursday.
The latest Wimbledon live stream tennis games begin at 6:30AM EST, in addition to the televised coverage. ESPN networks will handle the presentation on both TV and their broadband sports network. The ESPN schedule includes action from multiple courts including 2, 3, 12, 14, 16, 17, and 18, as well as Centre Court later on. Among the matches advertised are top women's star Maria Sharapova facing Su-Wei Hsieh on ESPN. Two other stars who will likely be seen on the live stream or televised action are Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. The two men's stars recently clashed in the finals of the French Open with Djokovic winning.
Meanwhile, a major surprise came on Thursday at Wimbledon when Rafael Nadal was upset in just the second round. According to ESPN, that's his earliest Grand Slam exit since 2005. He lost to Lukas Rosol 6-7 (9), 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 on Thursday. The frustrating performance from Nadal included bumping Rosol during a changeover, a move Rosol believed was an attempt to rattle his concentration. Nadal commented on it post-match, saying:
"Anything that I will say now will sound against me. It's not the right moment for me to say what happened out there, because it's going to sound like an excuse."
It's certainly a shock to see a player of Nadal's magnitude exit this early from the tourney. Could Friday hold more surprises from the Wimbledon tennis tournament? It's possible, as stars like Maria Sharapova, the 2012 French Open Women's champ, will be in action. However, most fans are hoping that the top stars will continue to advance, to set up some memorable matches towards the final rounds!
It all begins on ESPN3 for live online stream at 6:30AM EST, and ESPN starting at 7AM EST for televised coverage. Will you be watching as Day 5 of Wimbledon 2012 tennis takes place?
