The featured Spider-Man trailer gives fans more of a look at Peter Parker as Spidey, played by Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network"). Emma Stone plays the gorgeous love interest, Gwen Stacy, while Ivs Rhys plays the newest nemesis for Spiderman, "The Lizard." Also among those in the clip are Dennis Leary as Gwen's dad, who also happens to be the head of a police unit trying to track down Spidey.
While there's no movie spoilers shown in this new "Amazing Spider-Man" video trailer, it will heighten fans' interest heading into next week. "Spider-Man" is set for a July 3rd opening and will be shown in 3-D format. It also swings onto the screen about two and a half weeks ahead of "The Dark Knight Rises," making a smart move for this film's backers. Otherwise, Spiderman might find itself trapped in an intricate web of movie goers, who are opting to watch Batman instead.
The good news for Spidey is he is wedged right in between "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight" for the superhero summer of 2012. It's almost like this reboot, which looks pretty amazing on its own, is serving as a buffer between the two biggest films of the hot Hollywood movie season.
