Sherrie Hansen Decker has made her mark in the Christian Fiction genre with her debut novel “Love Notesâ€. Although Sherrie is an established author in the fiction genre, she is new to the Christian genre. Her love story fiction novels are published under the author name “Sherrie Hansenâ€. I mention this at the beginning of my review because the author's name can confuse the reader of this book. The last few pages of "Love Notes" give short blubs on her previous books but the name is differnet.
Â
The author has the ability to write with such strength that the reader will feel like they are on a roller coaster ride of emotions. The characters are strong willed and ever evolving as they find themselves in territory that is unfamiliar. Their personalities change often throughout the story. It is so easy to see the Spiritual growth in them and how it changes their lives with each choice they make.
She describes the setting so well that I could see and feel the near frozen temperatures and the cold water of the Lake. I could see the fog coming off the water and feel the fear of the character as they struggle to start the boat that is stranded on the Lake. I could feel the coldness in the air so much that I went outside and read the next few chapters just to get warm again.
Â
Sherrie drew me into the storyline with the first page. It was action packed and fast paced throughout the entire book I found myself having a love/hate relationship with the characters in this novel. I hated the male character in the beginning but come to admire him and see him in his true colors as the story progressed. In the beginning of the story, I felt like I was viewing the scenes from the top of a hill with my binoculars. I soon found myself connecting with the characters as if I knew them on a personal basis. loved this book. I felt the pain as the female character dealt with emotion from a very recent loss of a loved one. I felt the fear and uncertainty as she struggled to hold onto her home. I felt the emotion as she let herself accept help and fall in love with an unexpected man. This story is a must read for anyone who wants to see the kindness and compassion in a society that is becoming more “Me†oriented everyday.
Â
Â
I rate this book a 5 star. I recommend this story to anyone who loves a good love story with raw emotion ruling the characters. I think the author has found a new genre that will welcome her with open arms. I loved this book and was into the story from page one.

In her own words:
"My name is Sherrie Hansen. I have five books in print - Night and Day was released in March 2009 by Second Wind Publishing, followed by my Maple Valley Trilogy - Stormy Weather, Water Lily and Merry Go Round. My fifth book, and my first inspirational romance, Love Notes, was released in June 2012 under Sherrie Hansen Decker. Each book features a "second-chance-at-love" story.
By day, I own and operate a Victorian Bed & Breakfast and Tea House, The Blue Belle Inn, in northern Iowa. By night, I write. I enjoy quilting (each of my books includes a special quilt), decorating vintage houses, traveling and my weekly adventures with my nieces. I attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL and University of Maryland, European Division, in Augsburg, Germany. I moved back to the Midwest after 12 years in Colorado Springs to be near my family. My husband, Rev. Mark Decker, is the pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hudson, Iowa. I love playing the piano with our worship team. My current favorites are "How Great is Our God" by Chris Tomlin and "Glorious Day" by Casting Crowns."

Book Description:
Hope Anderson’s heart is finally starting to thaw. Even Tommy Love’s is melting around the edges. They both want Rainbow Lake Lodge. Only one of them can have it. For Hope, recreating the past - reopening the lodge and seeing it bubbling with families, children, and laughter again – means new life. It’s the only way she can honor her late husband's legacy. For Tommy Lubinski of Tommy Love and the Love Notes fame, Rainbow Lake means coming home - peace, quiet, seclusion - and a second chance at stardom. Once he’s bulldozed the lodge and built his dream house overlooking the lake, everything will be perfect. Hope is sinking fast, but she’ll be fine if she can just keep her head above water until spring. Tommy’s troubles run a little deeper, but there’s no need to worry for now… Rainbow Lake is frozen solid. Or is it?
