Bones season 7 ended with Pelant winning—for now—and Brennan going on the run so he couldn't get to her once she was in the system. She took Christine and left Booth behind, so now they have to figure out how to bring her home safely.
Season 8 Spoilers
According to TV Guide, executive producer Stephen Nathan has revealed, "[Brennan's] been gone, but she's been working. Cam ... and the Jeffersonian have to be completely above reproach. Everyone is doing their jobs so that none of [the evidence] is tainted. ... [But] somebody has been communicating with her and there has been some movement in the case." Booth had to stay behind to keep working from inside the system while keeping Brennan out of it, but it's unclear what happened to him upon returning home. Pelant was in their house and did something to the clock next to their bed. Will that be something that they can point to in order to prove Pelant's guilt?
Bones season 8 will be reuniting Booth and Brennan because, after all, it wouldn't be the same if they were apart for long. However, they do need to figure out how to get Pelant to make it safe for Brennan to return with Christine. The family reunion is something to look forward to, and it's because everyone will be doing what they can with the case that Brennan will be able to come home and have that family reunion. Pelant had a way of turning everything against them in the season 7 finale, but it sounds like they're going to figure out a way to keep that from happening. Will Brennan be the one to figure out a way to take care of Pelant even though she's away (but in contact with at least one person)? Will she be in touch with Booth, or will that be too risky? Angela does seem like the most likely choice, but because of that is she not the person? The premiere cannot get here fast enough, but fortunately season 8 will begin airing on Monday, September 17, at 8 p.m.
