A Visit to the Beach

On a recent trip to Boston, I had a chance to visit the ocean. Here are a few moments from my day.

Looks wild! The last 2 remind me of the sand dunes at Whitefish Dunes State Park near here.

There is something humbling about the oceans unlike any other sight in the world. Mountains are awesome, rivers give you a sense of places to go, but oceans remind me how tiny I am. I wish all politicians had to work in an office overlooking the ocean, I bet it would make a difference.
Those photos take me back to my own roots; we used to have a summer house at Narrabeen, and we drove there in the Oldsmobile with the suicide back doors; the whole family, usually Uncle John or Uncle George would drive there, and usually Aunite Eara would drive back because they had a few too many beers during the day. We would catch prawns [shrimp here] in the tidal pools on the beach and chuck them into a pot of boiling water and snack on them. The surf was wonderful, the days were hot and sunny, and we came back with a tan you wouldn't believe. Can't do that today, of course, with the diminshed protection against UV, but we sure did then! Ah well...

I echo the first words of Peter's comment above: "These photos take me back to my own roots." They remind me of the Lake Michigan beach on the shore of the small southwestern Michigan town where I grew up. I remember the waves, the surf, the lighthouse, the paths through the sand to the beach.

The photos and the subjects of the photos are excellent.

Beautiful views of the beach, we are fortunate enough to live very close to the Atlantic Ocean and always enjoy the views.

Wow. Gorgeous! So often, when you travel on business there is no opportunity to visit the locale. What a blessing that you've shared these photos with us!

Oh, Tonia. You make me miss the Cape so much. It's been 8 years since we've been back home (to the beaches). Thank you for this gift!

I especially love the picture of the stones...but they are all great! Sorry it took me so long to get here. We have also been traveling and busy like crazy when not. If you post this to Vicarious Vacations I would feature it.
