It was basically another non-event, apparently. Nations of the world willing to accept binding targets on global warming, sustainable development, etc? Just kidding- of course not.
The real story apparently was that non-governmental organizations and corporations were much more willing to actually be constructive and make financial commitments than the actual governments are.
As a person who accepts the science on climate change, am I outraged and stunned by the intransigence of our national governments regarding the horrible threats to future generations of humans? Well, no. In order to be stunned and outraged I would have to be surprised. I have watched this happen for 20 years, so I'm not surprised.
Have I given up hope of the human race being willing to deal with global warming? Well, no to that question as well. I am aware of the science. The science says that global warming is cumulative and open ended. In time, therefore, we will return to the topic, and we will ACT instead of just TALK.
It will be too late probably, but it will happen.
