An obese father in Ottawa, Canada has lost custody of his young sons after a judge declared he was too fat to be a good parent. After enduring a year-long custody battle in the courts, the 360-pound man's children will be put up for adoption. The unnamed father has managed to lose 150 pounds, but his weight loss was actually used against him.
The 38-year-old man's story is heartbreaking, but you and everybody else is wondering what would prompt a judge to make such a harsh decision. Apparently, some doctor was completing an assessment of his health and declared the man unfit to chase after his "energetic" children. His kids are five and six. The children's mother died last year after a mental breakdown that may have included some type of overdose.
Judge M. James ruled, "The father's weight loss regime is itself a full-time job. So is parenting two high-needs children. One will inevitably have to give ground to the other." So, now obese people cannot take care of their children? The idea is absolutely ludicrous. It is not as if the man is bedridden due to his weight. He is definitely not the only obese parent in the world. So what gives a judge the right to take away this man's children? One heartless, insensitive doctor sealed the fate of these children and their father.
The medical evaluation included the damning observation, "He was short of breath or winded in simply walking short distances about the clinic, and he lacks both the mobility and stamina required to keep up with young and active children." Anybody who has had to chase young children knows how exhausting they can be. Does that mean parents suffering from cancer or who are wheelchair-bound should also have their kids taken away?
Apparently, there was a little more ammunition on the court's side. The judge also cited the father's previous, not current, marijuana use and documented cases of violent outbursts. He did mention the violence was never directed at the children. This man and his children have been grossly abused by a system that is meant to protect children, not disrupt their lives.
How dare anybody presume an obese father is a poor parent. Go after the idiots beating or starving their children.

But yeah, nonetheless, a violent person is a violent person. Who cares if he's fat.. that just makes him fat and violent.

Seems like you only told 1/2 the story...
His grow operation is no longer in business. Who hasn't done stupid things in the past?
Growing pot was not the only business he had, he also had a computer business.
Essentially, the judge took the kids because he was fat.
Please apply some critical thinking here - ask yourself if his story really makes sense.
That's why I said she only told 1/2 the story~good advice to the author!
