wow. a kid was murdered, someone's son no less and the most simple minded people can reply with are opinions based on your own racist ideology. its so sad. he was arrested for the wrongful death of the martin kid and nothing less. the dispatcher told him what to do and he didn't. so for those of who are convinced he is some kind of thug ask yourself this, thugs are criminals right, what criminal activities was he involved in and what weapons did he have in his possession. no self respecting thug would be caught dead without some sort of weapon.

It would appear that the wheels of justice are beginning to turn, even if ever so slowly. Hopefully, both Mr. Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin's family will receive fair and equal justice, with bias having no part in the final outcome of the case.

The Chief of Police knew that he was guilty of an inexcusable lack of sound and professional judgement in his leadership capacity, when he refused to investigate the incident further to determine whether or not charges should be brought against Mr. Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin. That is why he offered his resignation following the assigned government prosecutor assuming authority over the case and thereby ordering Mr. Zimmerman's actions be investigated.

Unfortunately for both the Chief, the police department and the city he represented, his resignation was at that time turndowned by City Council who requested that he remain as the Chief of Police, a request which he accepted.

Now, with prosecution's indepth investigation resulting in the arrest and indictment of Mr. Zimmerman, (as well as his wife on a related charge) the Chief can no longer retain the respect of office that such a commanding position requires. Hence, his submitting of a second resignation and it's acceptance by the City Council was appropriate.

I was under the impression that an investigation is always made even when an arrest is not immediately made. Should the investigation come up with more questions, or should discrepencies turn up, or the, "evidence" is contrary to claims made, then possably an arrest is/will be made, and appropriate charges filed. I could be wrong, of course.

There was no investigation after Mr. Z was released, until public outcry made it happen.

Yes that is pretty much how things went down. The chief said that there was no reason to investigate further within 24 hours of Martin's death.

That doesn't sound like an official closing of the case. that sounds like they were saying that the part of the investigiation whereby they go around asking questions/taking statements, lifting blood samples, and the like was done, and they were on the part of waiting for the official autopsy report to come in, and then they'd put it all together to see what it all adds up to,...but before that process could run it's course, the media got a bug put in their ears and they were off and running with all sorts of acusations that many have, thus far, proven to be inaccurate, and outright false.
