Grey's Anatomy season 9 will have a lot of drama to deal with after the plane crash and the death of Lexie Grey, played by Chyler Leigh. It is safe to say her character was loved by everyone that worked at Seattle Grace-Mercy West, and she had close relationships with many. One of the closest relationships she had was with Jackson Avery. Even though the two had ended their relationship long before she died in the crash, they were still friends.
Jackson was ready to move on from Seattle Grace. He had a new job offer that would take him away from the hospital. However, Lexie Grey's death could very well change that. Wet Paint offered its own speculation about the season ahead and what is next for Jackson Avery. The actor, Jesse Williams, already admitted that Jackson will have a difficult time dealing with Lexie's death. It might also have an impact on his relationship with April - whether that is friendship only or develops into something more.
Since his arrival on Grey's Anatomy, this character has shown growth. Jackson became more than just a pretty face that traveled over from Mercy West when the two hospitals merged. Fans learned of his legacy, saw him deal with an overbearing mother, and the relationship he had with Lexie Grey also offered growth and weight to his character.
Lexie's death will have an impact on him, but it won't be clear just how much of an impact it will have until this series returns this fall.
What do you think? Do you want Jackson to stick around Seattle? Or should he continue on to build his life as he planned elsewhere?
