Columbus disappointed its fans and experts last season as the team struggled all for the entire 2011-12 NHL season. The team made some big moves last off-season, but they didn't pan out and the front office is now looking at making some major changes this summer.
Rick Nash is one of those moves the Blue Jackets made last summer, but it looks like the veteran will play elsewhere next season with all the trade rumors surrounding the winger. If Nash is moved, look for the team to select Filip Forsberg with the second overall pick later this week. Forsberg is ready to play now and would give Columbus a much-needed offensive weapon heading into the upcoming season.
The team has two picks in the second round and Bleacher Report suggests the team will draft defensive help. With the 31st overall choice, look for the Blue jackets to add goalie Malcolm Subban as they look to add their future net minder. Subban has good size and could make the big club as a backup this year. With the 45th overall choice, defender Michael Matheson is a good bet as the youngster has all the skills needed to play in the NHL. Matheson will need to add some bulk over the next couple of years, but his on ice skills make him a solid pick in the second round.
The front office will look to add more offensive weapons in the later rounds as the team tries to rebuild after last year's disaster. The Blue Jackets have a good nucleus of players, but they will need to add more talent this summer and the front office could have a busy off-season with trades and free agency moves.
