The murder of Jaren Lockhart is still fresh in the minds of New Orleans residents, and now one of the suspects in her death is being extradited. Terry Christopher Speaks, 39, is heading to North Carolina where he absconded from after failing to register as a sex offender. There he was convicted of at least three counts of indecent sexual liberties with a minor. His girlfriend Margaret Sanchez will not be extradited.
Hancock County, Mississippi is just one of the jurisdictions involved in this investigation, along with New Orleans. Should police also consider jurisdiction in Surrey, North Carolina where he is being extradited? Keep in mind that North Carolina is home to at least one missing woman's case—Kelli Bordeaux, who is blonde and attractive just like Jaren Lockhart.
Officials say the extradition of Terry Speaks isn't going to affect the investigation, but to be honest it could indeed slow it down. With now three states involved, there is a lot of room to make mistakes and clog up the justice system.
