Every year for several years, mud swallows have made a nest above our front walkway. It's always fun to watch the baby birds that hatch.
Â
A baby birdie up in the nest. When my Dad was alive he would power spray the nest down every year after the mud swallows were through. Now I think they just repair/build on the old one every year.
Â
Â

Every time I would go out to water the garden, or walk the dog, the parents would have a fit: flying around and chirping at me (or anyone else who dared come out the door). ;p

This year mom and dad appeared to have only three.   Here they are hanging out together.

Â

Every year this nearly always happens: one of the little guys/gals dosen't fly as soon as his/her siblings.Â
Â
Â
Â
Â

We do our best to keep an eye on him/her, and when we do we get chirped at a lot by mom and dad.
Â
Â
"Hey, what're you looking at? "
Â
At one point, this little guy hopped off of the bricks and onto the easel IÂ bought for my morning glories to climb up. :)

Eventually he/she did fly away, forturnately--as I was told by the girls I was watching earlier this week. I didn't see it myself unfortunately, but I was relieved to hear it. With the just under two dozen cats in this neighborhood the birdies falling out of the nest always makes us nervous. ;p
Until next year....

Lord willing, I am what He wants me to be.
Hi, Jan, how are you doing?
:+)
a tern and a white-tailed dove
searching for some happiness
Seeking more and finding less
But with naught in common, a nice surprise
That they asw love in each other's eye
A photographer and poet bard
Sharing a noisy airport yard
He pinged her with a whip-poor-will song
She grabbed her camera and came along
They flew on down the road
Lived happily ever after so's the story is told
Now they aren't ever going to grow old
For they each found a heart of gold
The old gray tern and the pretty dove
They found a way to be in love
Shouldn't the whole wo0rld learn their song
Shouldn't everyone learn yo get along
Let's all rejoice - it's a brand new day
