Revenge's first season ended with a number of cliffhangers, including Victoria's fate on the show. The second season will obviously resolve those and will also be introducing Emily's mother and kicking off like the first did—with a look at a big event before showing how they got there.

The second season is going to be showing a wedding, but whose wedding? Emily and Daniel had been heading toward a wedding, but they broke up. She had planned to tell Jack everything, but Amanda's back and pregnant. Ashley's getting close to Daniel. Anything could happen, and that's basically what Josh Bowman told Access Hollywood: "Could be Jack and Faux-manda. Could be mine and [Emily]... Who knows if me and Emily get back together or it heads toward me and Ashley pairing. Who knows?" Part of the fun could be seeing how that couple makes it to the altar next season. Plus, even if the couple does get married doesn't mean that they'll make it. After all, look at how Emily and Daniel, whose engagement party started the first season.
And what about Victoria? Madeleine Stowe says that she doesn't know whether Victoria lived or died, but did say that the scene was originally different: "It's interesting, because when Mike [Kelley, Revenge showrunner] originally wrote that, he just wanted a car to drive up to the tarmac." What happened instead was much more dramatic. Stowe did go on to say, "I think, at least for that season's end, that's a wonderful, wonderful way to go and not only that, the repercussions for the entire family... At the end of the day, this is Emily's story and all of her things have blown up in smoke, so to speak. I think it was just a really strong creative choice on his part." It certainly ended up being one of the most talked about moments of the season, but fans are left wondering all summer what will happen next for everyone.
For now, at least one thing is certain: "The only thing we can probably bank on is that Emily's mother is going to show up," as Stowe teased. That is another question for season 2: Who is Emily's mother? They have yet to cast the role or reveal much about her, but she is going to be a character who helps fans understand a bit more about Emily and how she acts.
