Facebook has become one of the top social networks on the Internet. Facebook is open to anyone age 13 and older. However, the age restrictions doesn't stop underage children from signing up on the site.
According to Facebook developers they are seeking ways to make it possible for children under age 13 to join Facebook so they won't have to lie and sneak. If such thing is granted parents would be required to supervise their children's account.Children are exposed to too much. They have cell phones, iPads, notebooks and personal game systems, not to mention what they see on television and in their everyday life.
A child under 13 joining a social network is more harmful than having a cellphone. On a cell phone you can control the features and monitor the activity. On a social site they can log on anywhere. It's not safe for a child to join Facebook or any social site but if allowed they should be taught the risks.
What do you think, should children under 13 join Facebook?

As and adult with grown children I think 13 is almost too young to be on FB but as I think back to what I was sneaking around doing at ages 10, 11, 12 etc behind my parents back....I know I would have been on FB had it been available to me way back then!
