Scarlett Johansson is the latest actress to be suggested for the role of Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey. But is the blonde bombshell too sexy for the part?
There's a reason why so many fans think that Kristen Stewart would be perfect for the role -- Anastasia Steele was based on her Twilight character Bella, so she's already got that same lip-biting awkwardness. Scarlett has more of a sultry, seductive quality about her, and it's easier to imagine her as being more of a female Christian Grey (especially after her butt-kicking performance in The Avengers). She's also just a touch too old for the role.
However, there is one man who thinks that Scarlett Johansson would make the perfect Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey—American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis.
He recently took to his Twitter account to express his interest in writing the movie adaptation of the novel, and he had plenty ideas for who should star in the film. Here's what he wrote about who should play Ana:
"Thinking more conventionally for Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey...Scarlett Johansson or Kristen Stewart."
Kristen and Scarlett definitely don't seem to have much in common except for being actresses and the tabloid's love of referring to them by their mini-monikers, Scar-Jo and K-Stew. However, they also both seem to share a willingness to try out a variety of wildly different movie roles so that they don't get pigeon-holed. And both of them would come with built-in fan bases since they're both parts of big franchises (Scarlett has The Avengers and Kristen Stewart has Twilight). However, there is one big difference between the two of them—Kristen has done nude scenes and Scarlett hasn't. Surely stripping down would be necessary in Fifty Shades of Grey.
So what do you think—would Scarlett or Kristen make a better Ana? It might be interesting to see Scarlett as Ana and Robert Pattinson as Christian Grey, but Kristen might not be crazy about that idea.
