My back problem!

My back problem is becoming worse. I hate to take pills for it because they make me stupider than I already am. I just don't understand drug abuse.

I took a muscle relaxer this morning because my back hurt so bad that I couldn't move. Then, my back felt better, but I was wiped out for the rest of the day. Why would anyone intentionally and without need take a drug? I just don't get it.

The doctor said my X-rays came back and my back is getting worse. Degenerative bone disease. Great! I have to slow down in my garden and playing with my grandkids, but I really love both and it makes me truly sad. The relief I get from medication makes me useless.

Oh well, things could be worse!

Oh dear I feel for you. I have severe back problems and I don't take anymore meds. that I just have too. I don't understand the abusers either. Hope your better soon

Have you asked your doctor for another alternative besides medicine?

I didn;t realize until I was in the hospital and refused the pain killer they were trying to give me. They came back in a half hour with another pain killer and I refused it. They wrote on my chart that I have a high level of pain.
That is not quite true, I don't want the medication because it makes me stupid. I understand that pain is a symton. We just have to put up with it.

I'm so sorry to hear that!! Back pain is terrible! Some mornings I wake up and can hardly get out of bed. It's horrible. Nothing quite as excruciating.

My sister has a back and neck spine problem. They wanted to fuse her spine but she refused because she wouldn't be able to turn her head and couldn't drive.

I had a spinal fusion in the lumbar area in '08. Still have some problems which my pain doctor says is caused by scar tissue encasing a nerve root. Every once in awhile I can't take it and get a spinal epidural. Last year my cervical spine started acting up. I couldn't hardly turn my head and my arms hurt. Got another shot in the spine and it got better. My pain doctor says that fusion in that area works more often than in the lumbar region. Hopefully I won't have to find out.

Sometimes meds are the only way to get through work. And the muscle relaxers are the only way to get a good night's sleep. But I only use them when I really need to.

I have a TENNS device but it's not very practical for the kind of work I do. The wires always get hooked on stuff and I get sweaty and I just don't like putting up with it. But it might be something for you to look into.

There are people who have not only back pain, though try having back pain knee pain shoulder pain hip pain in addition to fibromyalgia. I have a friend who has all of this and she only takes some naproxen when it all happens at once. Most have in an isolated area and getting a new knee for example is a lot more of an improvement than taking a little medicine that only slightly relieves the pain and allows for some mobility. If your back is giving you problems, perhaps you have the means to look into some non-evasive procedures, then cosider other options. Why not have a new or really improved back instead of some silly temporary relief when it comes back anyway.

There should be meds that will help without bad side effects. You might check with doctors.

go here www.losethebackpain.com I have found this the best site ever (no I don't get any commission etc)....no more back pain. Have shared with others, one has cancelled back surgery the method was so successful... God bless.

I often take muscle relaxants and sometimes real pain pills for my back - I have degenerative disk disease - stretching helps - I often sit on a chair and then bend at the waist as far as I can, or even do it standing up, with a chair to catch me when (not if, when) I fall

I have severe leg problems, I have been exersicing in the pool and it works great, except for the non movement of my left ankle, I can move about 25% betters.. do some excersises,, otherwise just as the husband saids you will be permently stuck this way

My husband has 3 herniated discs and refuses to take anythingstronger than advil. If he does not have pain after a drug, he may hurt himself and be miserable later on. Good luck.
