In the hallow,
Of my soul,
Should I have one,
Some say they know,
I can feel it gnawing,
On who I used to be.

It's a quandry,
That I ask,
If you answered,
You talked too fast,
For me to ever hear you.

Those that "know",
And those that don't,
Those that wonder,
And those that won't,
All end up,
The same place,
Knowing absolutely nothing at all.

Reading between the lines - sounds like our government.
The question actually was, does a god exist?, but whatever works for you ;o).

As to a "Higher Power", noone has the answer as far as I am concerned. If it works for you, more power to you.

If you believe in a soul, you must believe in a God that made it...I think if you look at the living....then at the dead, there is quite a difference that can't be explained any other way...what is life if not the presence of an essence...or soul...or whatever term you might use to describe it...

I didn't say I believed in a soul, I said if, and that some say they know. I would say, outside of poetry, in normal conversation, possibly, consciousness, and it's not that special. More developed in men, but not unique to him.
How sad. No wonder you're depressed.
But the poem is good. :)
Not sad, just the truth.
