Fairly Legal opens the week with the office all aflutter because Robin Archer (Lloyd Owen) is in the office. Lauren is in Ben's office making Archer wait. Ben can't believe Archer is actually in the office because he has people who attend these type of meetings for him. Kate thinks he's very cute and jumps to Leo's computer when he asks her if she wants to see naked pictures of the man. Turns out it's actually USA's way of sneaking in a sponsor by having Leo Rickroll her with an auto sale website.
Kate is super excited when she realizes that Justin got tickets to a private concert by Claudia Alvez (Josefina Scaglione), a Brazilian vocalist. After the concert, Justin arranges for Kate to meet Claudia and Kate about dies from happiness. The two click and Claudia invites them to an after party. A bunch of people pile into a limo, and drink Brazilian rum, but when Antonio, the bassist lights up a joint, Justin tells him to put it out because as an officer of the court that's really not okay. Which is about when the limo gets reamed by a white SUV. Justin blearily notes part of the license plate just before the car peals away from the accident.
The police arrive and search the limo because the joint gives them probable cause. The search turns up 4 baggies of cocaine in Claudia's purse. She's immediately arrested.
The next morning Justin and Lauren talk about the potential disaster this is for his campaign. Kate says that Claudia contacted her - and when Ben just looks at her - admits that fine, she contacted Claudia, and she wants them to represent her. Lauren tells Kate and Ben to work together and tells Justin to lie low.
Meanwhile, Lauren has to meet Archer to ink the deal that she hammered out with him. He came in with an offer of $35 a share, but she got him to go up to $52 a share because in the two days since their last scheduled meeting that never took place, Lauren was very busy making her client's airline that much more attractive. When she gets to the restaurant, it's empty. It turns out he owns it. He invites her to lunch and they bond over memories of watching Singing in the Rain. They have dessert and dance to Peggy Lee's "That Old Feeling." They kiss. Lauren is definitely falling for him.
Kate and Ben get Claudia out on $50,000 bail, down from the $500,000 that Trace Barber, the A.D.A. on the case, asked for. Claudia turns in her passport and she's at least out of jail while Kate and Ben work on trying to get a plea bargain. Claudia says the cocaine is not hers (of course) and that she believes she's been framed by a corrupt Brazilian sheriff who does not appreciate that she has followed in her martyred activist father's footsteps. Ben refrains from rolling his eyes over the first, but can't contain his look of disbelief over the latter. Kate believes, of course.
Justin thinks that Barber will deal fairly with Claudia because he knows him. Turns out he doesn't know him quite as well as he thought. Justin is brought in to answer questions about being in the limo. He goes with Lauren and it's immediately evident that Barber isn't interested in being fair. He doesn't look like he's enjoying it, but it doesn't stop him either. Justin looks completely betrayed. Also? There is no plea bargain for Claudia.
Ben offers that the only way out is to offer up Antonio as an alternate theory. That maybe Antonio planted the drugs on Claudia as revenge for their bitter break up last year. Kate brings it to Claudia but she refuses to do that to a friend and says she will testify and just tell the truth. As Ben puts it when Kate tells him, "[t]hat idea makes bad ideas feel better." Then a light bulb goes off, and Kate realizes that the SUV must have been part of the plan and that it must have followed them from the concert.
After they find the plate on a security camera, they track down the driver and it turns out that Antonio did plant the drugs. The sheriff forced him to do it. After Kate and Ben get the driver a deal (via Justin), he signs an affidavit to that, and the charges are dropped.
Claudia cancels the rest of the tour to return to Brazil, but before she goes, she gives Kate and Justin a private performance. Kate is enthralled, but Justin pulls out his phone. Ben walks in with Claudia's passport and is drawn in by Claudia's voice. Kate looks at Ben.
Lauren confides in Kate about her date with Archer. Kate tells her that she has only heard good things about Archer's aherm from a friend who dated Archer's son. Lauren is floored because Archer told her he had no children. When he comes by, she tells him she's backing out because she knows how this is going to end. He wishes her well and then takes it back because no one knows how this is going to end. It doesn't seem like he's happy to leave, but he does. When Lauren goes home that night, she looks deeply unhappy. If she turned Archer away to prevent a broken heart, she might have been too late.
The next morning, Kate is at Justin's and he asks her to be his date for some campaign functions, and without waiting for a response immediately starts talking on his phone. She listens to Claudia on her iPhone. Elsewhere, Ben is jogging, listening to the same song. It's beautiful but doesn't really seem like a jogging song, you know? Fairly Legal is edging more and more to Kate and Ben, isn't it? So how about it? Ben or Justin?
