Hector Snippet built a trading post near the Indian village of Shackamaxon. Later he was joined by his nephew River Blue.

Often Hector and River Blue traveled to Fort Beversreede and traded with Dutch Soldiers. Each time they would visit with Major Brinker. From him they learned about the Quakers.

“What is a Quaker?” Hector asked.
“From what I gather,” said Major Brinker, “They are a religious group that don't believe in war.”
“Where are they from?”
“England.”

“They left England because they were being persecuted,” continued Major Brinker. “Maybe you could find them and see if they need help.”
“We will find them,” said River Blue.

“It is always good to see you my friend,” said Major Brinker as he shook Hector’s hand.
“Same here sir,” replied Hector.
“Maybe you will find a wife among the Quakers,” Brinker laughed.
“At 38 I doubt it.”
