The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs last night in game 6 in OKC earning a spot in the NBA finals for the first time. However, the big headline is about the team's hero Kevin Durant. His first act was to hug his mom. He embraced her with 14.6 seconds left in the game.
Oklahoma City won the game 107 to 99, and the Chesapeake Energy Arena was rocking. When it became obvious that the Spurs had run out of time to stop OKC, team star Kevin Durant went straight to his mom Wanda and brothers Tony and Rayvonne who were setting on the front row.
The 23-year-old NBA super star enchanted the world by giving his mother the sweetest embrace. Of course, Kevin Durant's 34 points and 14 rebounds were impressive, but it is his character that impresses the most. You have never seen a more humble super star, and it is beautiful how he never ever forgets his mother. He is the portrait of a young man who knows how to treat his momma.
After the game, Durant described the family hug saying, ''I never want to take those moments for granted. I know it's just one step closer to our dreams, but it felt good.''
It was certainly beautiful that he shared his moment with his mom and brothers. You don't see that many stars acting like that. It was a little shocking that he did it with so much time left in the game, but perhaps that is just a sign of his youth. It's also possible that he wasn't aware of how much time was left.
You can see the touching family scene in the video below. What do you think?
