As the world now knows, Robert Pattinson and Christina Ricci developed a close friendship on the set of their eagerly awaited film Bel Ami. What the world didn't know until Ricci's recent appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show is that RPattz constantly made fun of Ricci both during filming and during their off-screen time. So, what did he tease her about? Why, her British accent of course.
It's ironic that Rob would tease Ricci about her faulty Anglicized speech since, by his own admission, the Twilight heart-throb isn't exactly fond of his own posh English accent--especially on-screen. Nevertheless, as Ricci told Kimmel, RPattz criticized her attempts at the 'King's Speech" to no end. When Kimmel asked if English actors Rob could immediately tell if she was doing her "English accent right" in Bel Ami, Ricci unhesitatingly replied:
"Yes. And sometimes they make fun of you."
Ouch.
Christina got her revenge on Rob, however, because he's been hanging out and actually living in the U.S. for so long that his accent has begun to change.
"They hired a wonderful accent coach who coached me," explained Christina, adding: "and who also coached him because he's spent a lot of time in L.A. And then I got to make fun of him because he's actually British and sometimes [he] would sound like he was a Valley Girl."
Ouch!
So, there you have it. Robert Pattinson actually had to be retrained to speak British English. Oh well, RPattz wouldn't have been nearly as effective as the sexy sociopathic cad, Georges Duroy talking like a Valley Girl. Fer sure.
