Selena Gomez Talks Wild-Side Walk!

Selena Gomez and her hordes of loyal fans are clean-cut and wholesome, for the most part. So why does the singer-turned-actress, 19, want to let herself be filmed smoking and drinking, taking drugs and getting herself arrested? Say it isn't so! But yes, the stories are all true—not of Selena herself, but of the parts she plays in recent movies, reports Sugarscape. "I'd never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. It was really funny - they had to show me how to do it," the Spring Breakers star says of role. But why?

Well, clean-cut can get old, when it comes to choice movie roles. And boring! "I was getting kind of repetitive in terms of the roles I was picking, and I really wanted to do something that was completely different," Selena Gomez says. "It was a mark thing for me - like, 'This is what I want to be doing.' I want to be taking myself seriously as an actress, and this was definitely a stretch."

Well, that's all good, but what if her younger fans' moms don't agree. If all the regular Selena-lovers fail to buy tickets, the box offices will not be happy, and the success of Selena Gomez as an actress rests on ticket sales. So the whole thing is a risky gamble.

Gossip says Selena's next movie is also a stretch and a risk. The "good girl" never has the more interesting part.
