I've been venturing back into the world of sewing lately. Been years since I used my sewing machine, and judging by the thread that was inside it, the last time I sewed with it was to sew a Cars pillowcase for Gideon. Or, maybe it was a Spongebob one. Either way, many years ago.
Unfortunately, I misplaced the extra bobbin, needles and foot with it in the move. Hopefully they will somehow turn up soon, though.
I found some cute dress fabric on sale at Walmart. It was simple enough to make. Hem, sew down the side and instant dress. All for $2.50 for the 2 dresses combined, so if I oopsed then we were not out a whole heck of a lot of money. That was a draw, lol.
The first dress was a pink Minnie Mouse sundress. A bit long as it turned out, and shortening it would cut off Minnie, so she may need to grow into it a bit more. Plus, it does need straps. When she crawls it slips down lol.
The second one I heeded what I learned on the first and shortened it (it had no design on the bottom so this was not difficult to do) and fashioned straps for it. I kinda winged making the straps and all-in-all it was a successful venture.
Now, I'm working on another cute dress. It has loads of options on the pattern and it's all mix and match. It was hard picking what I wanted to do because I both wanted it cute and not overly hard since I'm still warming up to all of this. So, what I came up what was the one in the middle photo with the bow tied in BACK (don't like the big bow in front, it's a bit distracting) with these fabrics I had laying around the house. I like how the blue color varies to a teal and it has the silver glitter on it. Should make for a cute summery dress that I could whip up relatively quickly. :)
