Today is going to be a long day, as we're spending the day at the Cobb Civic Center. It's photo day and dress rehearsal. Tomorrow is recital week....
So, today we are celebrating....
1). Applesauce Cake Day: oh yum! I haven't made one of these in a long time. It's time to enjoy an old and often forgotten goodie, but you'll probably have to make it yourself. Kroger is the only store that I've seen one in, I think.
2). Old Maid's Day: Still haven't found "Mr. Right"? Well, this day is for you! Go out there and make yourself available. Right after the end of WWII, it was noted that there were plenty of Maidens waiting for the returning GIs. And, the ladies were not getting younger as they awaited the return of their GI. The long war had disrupted and put on hold many relationships, and many GIs didn't return at all. Dances and socials were held to bring together returning soldiers and the many available, unmarried ladies. It is from this occurrence that Old Maid's Day emerged.
3). Drawing Day: This holiday is a world-wide event encouraging people to pick up a pencil and draw. http://drawingday.org/ There is even a website for this holiday...and a LOT of information on the website. I would encourage all of you to just take a look.
4). Audacity to Hope Day: This is sort of a symbolic holiday for all those who have a dream. Today, all Americans should recommit to their dreams with the "audacity to hope" that they can be achieved. In other words, GO FOR IT.
I hope all of you have a great day.
