A new Miss USA 2012 has been crowned, and it's the stunning Olivia Culpo from Rhode Island!
Culpo, 20, and a native of Cranston, Rhode Island, took home the crown Sunday night at the Planet Hollywood Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, competing against some of the most beautiful and talented young women from across the nation. The former Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella, crowned the beautiful brunette, who will now go on to represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant in December.
Though Culpo stunned and shone in many ways during the competition, one of her biggest victories was off-screen prior to the Miss USA 2012 competition, when she responded to a question on Twitter in a way that was both gracious and open-minded, two things any Miss USA could stand to be!
The question, regarding whether or not transgendered individuals should be allowed to compete in pageants, easily could have thrown the contestant, but instead, gave her the opportunity to prove that not all beauty queens falter during tough questions!
"I do think it would be fair, but I understand if people could be apprehensive," Culpo responded. "I do accept that because I believe it's a free country."
What do you think of the new Miss USA 2012, Olivia Culpo?
