NeNe Leakes is finally speaking out about the fifth season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Fans weren't sure she'd be returning after all of her success in acting—she's starring in a new sitcom, The New Normal, which premieres this fall.
"We've been shooting for about three weeks," she tells VIBE. "It was really a hard decision for me to even think of coming back because I was so tired of the whole reality thing."
The fans are getting tired as well—of NeNe! Many feel as though fame has completely changed her. She used to be loud, outgoing, and funny, but now it's more loud, rude, and condescending. She even was openly disgusted by thought of hanging out with "the Twitter fans" at one of Kandi's events which aired on the show.
Leakes will be back once again when season 5 returns, and this time, she is sure to mention her new show and how rich it has made her. Should Leakes make the transition to full-time actress and leave reality behind?
Leakes doesn't think so! "If you can do it all, then just do it all. Why leave the show when you can still do the show and you can still do The New Normal? So we're going to see how doing everything works."
Although Leakes is returning, she still has plenty of negative things to say about reality TV and how it has gone 'way too far' on shows like Basketball Wives! "It's gone way too far. The truth is the truth. It has just gone too far. Too many fights, my God! I can see if there was one here or there. And I always say to people when they say something about reality, you can say whatever y'all want about reality TV, Atlanta Housewives, we don't do that. We definitely have had our verbal fights, but never physical fights. I can't believe the fighting and the bullying."
Leakes may act appalled at the bullying on other shows, but to say that the same isn't going on in Atlanta is just wrong. They are surely no classier than any other reality TV shows, and bullying goes on there like it does on any other show—many of times at the hands of Leakes, herself.
This interview with VIBE Magazine comes just days after NeNe Leakes' Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star, Phaedra Parks, sued the magazine for publishing a story about her in which she was referred to as a "career criminal" and "crooked attorney." Is this another battle of The Talls vs The Smalls?
