Grey's Anatomy season 8 ended with two cast members leaving the show. Chyler Leigh's Lexie died due to injuries sustained in the plane crash, while Kim Raver's Teddy left for a new job. It was an emotional hour not only for fans, but for the cast as well.
Grey's Actor Talks Season 8 Finale Shockers
Jesse Williams talked to Us Weekly about losing Leigh and Raver from the cast: "I was sad to lose those guys. We love them to death, they're really, really beautiful people and it was difficult. It was kind of depressing." That came across a bit on screen with the storylines, as they were certainly fitting to emotional goodbyes. That's sure to continue into next season as everyone finds out what happened both for the doctors in the wilderness and those back in Seattle. If Cristina does end up staying, how will she react to finding out that Teddy will no longer be around? Will that ultimately mean something good for her professionally? How will everyone, especially Jackson, back at Seattle Grace, react to Lexie's death?
Williams also talked about what the Grey's Anatomy season 8 finale seemed to hold for the other characters: "Everybody is supposedly leaving, one way or another." There were very few doctors whose plans included Seattle Grace in their future when season 8 came to an end, and Jackson was not one of them. However, that is likely going to change in the aftermath of the plane crash and those back in Seattle finding out Lexie died. It's also possible someone else could die. Shonda Rhimes has said that it's possible that could happen when season 9 premieres. So how does Williams feel about what could happen next year? He said, "I gave up predicting on that show after my first year." At least he has the fact that his character was not seriously injured in a plane crash going for him. His character could still end up choosing to stay at Seattle Grace.
