Mary Kennedy was laid to rest near the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport, Massachusetts this weekend, but a memorial planned by her side of the family is scheduled for Monday in New York City. It will take place, however, without her estranged husband Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in attendance.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, RFK, Jr. wasn't invited to the New York City memorial for Mary. In a rather odd move, he left the state instead, and took his kids to Florida to visit their grandmother.
Friends close to Mary say Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is a wonderful father, but was a horrible husband. In the service held under his direction, he reportedly gave a very 'self-serving' eulogy. Only one of Mary Kennedy's relatives attended the funeral.
Isn't it a bit odd, however, that Robert Kennedy would deny his children the opportunity to attend their mother's memorial in New York? Certainly they've been through more than most adults face in a lifetime, but they were Mary Kennedy's children and it seems they should have been there to once again say goodbye.
Is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. showing his true colors by leaving the state and taking his children to Florida--prohibiting them from attending Mary's memorial there? Or had the children simply had enough mourning and welcomed the option to get some time away? Do you think girlfriend Cheryl Hines will be meeting him in Florida?
What do you think is the real scoop in this heartbreaking situation?
