Bobbi Kristina Brown gave a poignant tribute to her late mom Whitney Houston at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. Lots of controversy preceded the awards show as a family feud erupted regarding which family member would actually accept Whitney Houston's posthumous Millennium Award. It was decided just a couple of hours before the show that Bobbi Kristina deserved that honor--and rightfully so.
Bobbi Kristina's tribute was short and sweet and followed beautiful musical presentations by Jordin Sparks and John Legend. Taking the stage along with Whitney Houston's sister-in-law Pat Houston, Bobbi Kristina did in fact accept her mother's award.
Tears flowed freely both on stage and in the audience as memories of Whitney Houston filled the house. Whitney died on the eve of the Grammy Awards. How fitting she would be honored just a few months later at the Billboard Music Awards.
Bobbi Kristina Brown said she was "blessed to have been in such an incredible woman's life." As Jordin Sparks sang Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, the poignant theme was heart wrenching.
Kudos to Bobbi Kristina for honoring her mom in this very special way.
