George Zimmerman Revealed to be a Racist Bully in the Workplace?

I am struggling to control myself and to NOT post articles on the Martin/Zimmerman court case. I am hoping that the justice system will do its job inside the courtroom, and dreading what may happen it it does not. I think that there is a little too much PUBLIC work being done by both the prosecuting team and the defense team. Ultimately, I am not going to be on the jury for this case- which is okay by me, what a nightmare job.

Obviously that does not stop me from having an opinion. My opinion is that some of the information being shoveled out to the public is irrelevant. The relevant information is the chain of events that led up to the killing- even more relevant than the immediate event of the killing. In other words, George Zimmerman set up a deadly situation by profiling a young stranger then pursuing him in an aggressive fashion that would make any reasonable person nervous and upset. The outcome was not fully predictable, but dangerous confrontational tactics can result in deadly outcomes when you carry a concealed weapon but are NOT a peace officer and are essentially untrained and incompetent.

This is probably the most logical and spot on comment I've seen on this site about this case! But like other comments, I think this case has already been decided, based on politics & $$$!

You should have more faith in juries. I only hope there is one good person on there, and whatever the truth is, it wins out fairly, in spite of the furor.

I believe it is necessary to have 9 good people on a jury, Char. One out of 9 won't cut it.
I learned to second guess juries when O.J. won acquittal.

I will not disagree, that Mr. Zimmerman could have done less, and avoided the confrontation.

However, based upon the injuries to Mr. Zimmerman, and the injuries to Mr. Martin, it is amazingly obvious, that Mr. Martin became the person who was the attacker.

Which means this could have been avoided (also), while Mr. Zimmerman was going back to his vehicle (and no longer following). Mr. Martin could have not given him 2 black eyes, a broken nose, and multiple lacerations to the back of the head.

I would be forced to ascertain, that Mr. Marin did not get the wounds to his fists, by having Mr. Zimmerman repeatedly slamming the youths fist with his face.

What a mess...

The D.A. stacked the deck to make sure Zimmerman will get off. She purposely over charged him in order to appease both sides of the issue. She had Zimmerman arrested and charged, which appeased the Trayvon camp and his acquittal will appease the shooters supporters.

I totally agree, and evidence of that is how the media has "collectively" backed off from its previous coverage in favor of the killer!

The audio file is there, it just took a long time to load. He said George was a big bully and he complained to HR. He said if someone was big he wouldn't mess with them, he struck him as a guy who picked on the littlest guy, or as in his case, the new guy. He did give him an identity fitting his Arab origin, which made him uncomfortable. he did not seem to really think it was about race, he seemed more to think he was immature. All in all, I found the witness very credible, and believe he felt the way he said, bullied. I do NOT think it was racist, and honestly it seemed he didn't either.

Yeah, right. So a man who is 1/4 black himself, who was raised with two black foster siblings, who volunteers to mentor black children, whose black neighbors have come to his defense because he's a helpful friend to them, etc., etc, suddenly is "revealed" to be a racist because one anonymous person calls in and says so. I would say anyone who would latch on to such a pathetic excuse of "evidence" would be the one we'd need to suspect of racism.

The point is that as Chris above said, simply following someone (and you don't know that it was done in an "aggressive style" Chris) for a distance of about 1/4 block, cannot be reasonably claimed to be predictive of a deadly encounter. Two other things you don't know, Chris, was how well trained or competent Zimmerman was. The vast majority of police officers aren't trained any better than what any private citizen can be through widely available defensive handgun courses.

What WAS reasonably predictive of a lethal result was beating a man to the ground and pounding his head into the concrete. There is no evidence that any such act was justified by anything that Zimmerman did. Remember that the lead investigator for the prosecutor has already said under oath that they don't even have any evidence that Zimmerman is the one who initiated contact. What evidence does exist supports the contention that it was Martin who turned what had been a simple misunderstanding, where no one had done anything illegal or wrong, into a violent criminal attack. And while there is some possibility that this isn't what happened, that is the only scenario supported by what little evidence there is. And like it or not, that means that Zimmerman should be found not guilty by the rules of our criminal justice system.

Perhaps it is more about him being a bully.

The tape of the audio painted a very clear picture of someone who is always reaching up to be noticed. Like calling 911 a lot, the witness on the tape said he was always calling HR to complain about what was being done wrong in the store where they worked. Maybe things were done wrong, but it sure seemed he went about it wrong, and was eventually let go.

Being a racist doesn't equate to being a murderer. There are many racists out there who never murder anyone. There are non racists who murder people. I'm sure most people have someone in their workplace they don't like. It seems like the stuff being released now is just being released to destroy whatever sense of normalcy he might have if he isn't found guilty. If he doesn't go to jail, lets just make sure his life is destroyed! That seems to be the mantra of the press lately.

You are so right. If you are the worst n word using person on this planet that does not prove you would kill anyone! That is what I really hate about hate crime laws. It is a way to infer action, instead of proving it, and to punish thought. The thought police were the enemy in every fascist regime ever existing. Only actions should be punished, and feelings about people are only to establish fact, as in motive. All equal actions should be punished equally, period. Otherwise it is political punishment.

I don't think the core of the shooting of Trayvon was racist, however, color may have been a factor. Doesn't seem that Zimmerman ever followed anyone before this incident, so, why this time; and, why with a gun?

I am more inclined to think that the way the matter was handled after the shooting was racist, because Trayvon's body was tested for drugs, Zimmerman was not. Zimmerman was released without a full investigation, and I am certain that if the tables had been turned, Trayvon would have spent some days in jail while the police investigated the incident.

But the stand your ground law said if his story seemed backed up by the facts, don't arrest him. He still looks backed up by the facts, and he is in jail. Again, it seems the law has been broken, for double standard reasons, reverse racism. Yes, double standard is the essence of racism.

A black woman recently unsuccesfully used the "stand your ground" law in her defense of shooting a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband who she thought was about to attack her and kill her. She is now facing 20 years. She didn't kill anyone and is 100 percent black I guess that makes a big difference. The same D.A. in charge of Zimmerman's case chose to charge this black woman.

Well, she charged Zimmerman, too. Did her attorney request a SYG hearing? It's really hard to tell what happened with no details, but just maybe it had nothing to do with her being black. Was her husband also black? But you see what I mean, it shouldn't matter, now you have me doing it! Crimoney!

If Zimmerman was a racist, when he called dispatch he would have said there's a black guy who looks suspicious. He didn't. Dispatch asked him if the guy was white, hispanic, or black, and Zimmerman answered he thought he was black.

Big difference in the edited version of the dispatch call the media presented to the public.

And you might want to consider changing the word, revealed, out of the title. He wsa not revealed to be anything. It's misleading, as Obama's statement about the case was, which resulted in the extremists putting out a wanted dead or alive bounty on his head.

Things are unrecognizable in America today, but as far as I know it IS still Innocent until proven Guilty. And I agree with the person who said that people who see racism everywhere are usually the ones with racist leanings.

I believe that Zimmerman might be a racist--but it may be unrelated to his culpability, if, indeed, he is a racist.

While I fully agree with the strong, strong idea that a man is innocent until proven guilty (and I have stated this on Gather.com, about this case, a number of times), I believe that you may be inaccurate about the following:

The police dispatch call.

If I'm not mistaken, Zimmerman made some reference, in the recording, where he linked color of skin or ethnic category, to how members of such a group get away with unacceptable behavior.

He did not use the word, `unacceptable'--but if you reexamine the tape, I think you'll find phraseology that reflects such a sentiment.

Brett, Innocent Until Proven Guilty is not an idea, it's the law.

Even Obama can't rewrite that one, try hard as he might with his base ratcheting up all this race war business.

Second, what you heard was the edited version for which several people were fired over, scapegoats because the networks knew what they were doing, but fired nonetheless.

No, the networks claimed he made a statement that sounded like it may or may not have been a racist remark.

No he was referring to people who come into the gated community to use the clubhouse and he said, "These a**holes; they always get away." People sneak in and sneak out of the gated community.

Zimmerman:

You are overreacting, and erring on the side of exonerating Zimmerman's alleged racism, simply because the version was edited.

Your inability to fully understand/comprehend vocabulary isn't achieving anything toward keeping anyone honest. To reveal is to "allow something to be seen" -- seeing as though the prosecution leaked this audio file.. then by the very definition of the term, the audio file was "revealed" and dude may have been revealed as being a racist. Nothing dishonest about that.. it's all rather cut and dry and to the point. The terminology is very simple and easy to define, and fall right into the parameters of said definitions.

Graduate Schools of Law do not teach law students to draw conclusions and then work backwards to arrive at cherry-picked evidence.

If you want to do that, then go apply for a job as an entry level CIA data analysis assistant, prior to 9/11. And make sure Vice-President Cheney recommends you for the job.

You see, the whole passive-aggressive thing is only effective if you don't first try to use how much (little) you make on here as a way to brag and demean other posters. ;) Just a thought.

Not grammar and spelling. Pay attention. I get it now...you're a scorned writer from the "before days" when "paper" was the medium used and typesetting was still revolutionary.. I kind of feel a little sorry for you now, realizing how badly you just dated yourself by revealing how out of touch with modern "print" you are....

I have had editors with some of the writing companies I used to write for, behave like you. Brag a big game about back in the day when newspapers were the thing and being printed in magazines meant you got paid top dollar and yadda yadda yadda... lol, yeah, must have been great.

Want to know a secret? Many "print" magazines, aren't even in print anymore. The ones that ARE, use "mcarticles" and rarely pay writers more than 10 cents a word.. there are still some out there that pay a dollar a word, oh yeah. VERY FEW. In fact, one of the media companies I used to write for, sold the articles to quite a few big name "prints". (LOL)

So yah, you've obviously been out of the game for a good long while.

Print is dying. Catch up. This has been common knowledge for a few years now.

Again.. I know this is hard for your to fully grasp. But I brought to attention that you made a mistake in your definition of a word. That is not spelling or grammar. That is vocabulary. If this is something you are STILL struggling with at your age, then there is probably a reason why nobody has heard of you and your stellar writing.

And I think before you go and pat yourself on the back (for a job NOT done) you should really realize how much you embarrassed yourself on this thread. You've done nothing but tell stories about your life while not being able to produce one single thing that you've done. You spent more time crying and complaining about what I found about "your name" in Google, when you could have just shared a few things you've done.

But you can't because you somehow failed in your prime-years of having a "writing career." Heck anyway disagreeing with Obama's abysmal policies is called a racist. It's really bad when people diminish true racism, which is the true face of EVIL, just to stand on one side of an issue.

I don't know all the facts, you don't know all the facts, and Obama and his radical buddies don't know all the facts.

When all of the facts are presented to a jury, all we can hope for is that they are not as stupid as the Casey Anthony jurors, and they can figure out if there is reasonable doubt to charge him with a crime.

Until then, all ANY of us can do is speculate, guess, and form opinions. But I'm holding my opinion until we hear all the facts.

The Anthony jurors were not stupid. The prosecutors never even proved there was a murder, much less Casey Anthony did it. I think she was so ashamed that she was careless enough to be negleglectful enough to let her die, that she disguised the accident as a murder. That seems what the evidence showed. If they had told that story, and presented the evidence they would have had a conviction. I think they may be making similar mistakes this time, but don't blame the jury. It is the prosecutor's job to properly lay out the case for the jury. If they say this time it is racism, because they say so, and that he had intent because they say so, it will be no more effective than when Dr. G. said it was murder because she said so.

She accidentally wrapped duct tape around a 2 year old's mouth and placed a heart sticker on it? Or did Kaylee do that herself when Casey wasn't looking?

They found her not-guilty on ALL counts, including those involving neglect.

That she wasn't found guilty of the criminal neglect was a mistake, but when I looked up the exact charge they listed, there was a technical problem with the charging wording, as I recall. But I would have overlooked it, personally, so in a way I agree they should have found a guilty on that charge. The point I am making is the prosecution should have laid that, the correct charge out, and walked them clearly to it, instead of confusing them and overcharging. that is how it seemed to me. I do not think they were stupid, they were doing the best they could with what they were given.

The whole country was given the same evidence. It was broadcasted nationally. The majority thought she was guilty of at least involuntary manslaughter, but when you're talking about a 2 year old baby, it's incredible none of those jurors could see any of it.

Most of us weren't confused. I can't think about this trial again. It made me sick for months, as a mom, knowing another mother got away with murdering her child.

There was more than enough evidence against Casey Anthony.

The jurors' lack of knowledge in forensic science or even ability to grasp the concept made it possible for Anthony's defense to "discredit" the most damning pieces of evidence against her.

So yeah, the jurors effed up.


She's far from the only mom who got away with murdering her kid tho. It happens every day.

Chelsea, The problem was that they were so busy saying she had the body in her car, that she tried to make it look like a stranger crime, all of that was NOT lost on the jurors. You act like you could understand that better than them. LOL. They didn't care about that part, and they gummed up two thirds of the trial with it! She wasn't on trial for transporting or improperly disposing of a body, she was on trial for murder, and they DIDN'T prove it. They didn't prove there was a murder, not an accident, much less that Casey did it, much less on purpose. They did get in the record that the stairs to the pool were left up. It was very likely an accident. Much more likely than a murder. She was the Mother, and that child deserved to be taken care of, so I WOULD HAVE found her guilty of negligent homicide or something like that. But murder, nope.

NO, NO, NO, and didn't watch the news or read about it; just the trial.

If the public heard things the jury didn't get to hear, wouldn't that have been reason to throw the case out.

I'd never even heard about the case before the trial and we were actually up the mountains at the time and the only thing we watched on TV WAS the trial.

A black woman recently unsuccesfully used the "stand your ground" law in her defense of shooting a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband who she thought was about to attack her and kill her. She is now facing 20 years. She didn't kill anyone and is 100 percent black I guess that makes a big difference. The same D.A. in charge of Zimmerman's case chose to charge this black woman.

He's going to get off. You guys WANT him to be a racist bully as much as you want him to be a white TEA partier. Facts are facts.

Chelsea the facts are there for everybody to see yet you are the one taking quotes from ex-coworkers who disliked him. I could find people who say nasty things about you and you can find people who say nasty things about me. It's called humanity.

Facts:

1:) Two eye witnesses saw Martin on top of Zimmerman pounding his head into the ground and punching his head using an MMA style full body mount.

2:) One witness identified Zimmerman as the one screaming for help and a 911 call has the screams recorded for a count of 14 times.

3:) Martins autopsy showed injuries to his knuckles.

4:) Zimmerman had two black eyes, a broken, bloody nose and lacerations to the back of the head that required stitches.

5.) During a bail hearing last month, Dale Gilbreath, an investigator for the prosecution, said he had no evidence to contradict Zimmerman’s description of the fight.

Also, here is another little known fact. If somebody sees you walking through his gated community and thinks you look suspicious, you do not have the right to feloniously assault them. I know, it sounds hard to believe but it's a FACT. It could get you killed.

So far your facts were a doctored 9/11 tape that got people fired from NBC, a grainy video tape that showed Zimmerman had no injuries which has since been debunked, because Al Sharpton said so, because if Obama had a son it would look like Travon, and now somebody that claims Zimmerman was going to blow him up. Do you see a pattern here?

I think the only people who know the "facts" in this case are Trayvon and George. Trayvon being dead and there being tons of evidence that none of the public have seen, I'd find it even harder that you know the "facts"

nor is producing the publicly known details going to make your claim any more credible.

I don't really think anyone who isn't a racist has a problem with that being expressed. It's the FACT that prosecution leaked the interview. It's a FACT that the guy has been accused of being racist before.

If it's a fact that his racism fueled the murder of 17-year old Trayvon Martin, then hopefully the put him down ;) If not, then hopefully he still faces whatever justice is suiting for whatever crime he did manage to commit. (at the least, interfering with police work by following the kid even after he was told not too)

An accusation doesn't make the accusation a fact though. My facts are simply the forensics and unbiased corroborating eye witness testimonies. It shocks me that you are unaware of any of the real facts as opposed to hearsay and gossip.

Zimmerman wasn't accused of being a racist in the past according to anything this post offers. You are embellishing again. Somebody came forward AFTER the incident. There is a big difference. I would expect you to pay more attention to detail since you fancy your forte to be the reporting of crime investigation stories.

Again, I don't claim to know all of the forensics or all of the facts. I am the one who is pointing out the known facts and you pointing out embellished office gossip and hope as to what else might be there that hasn't been "leaked".

I have no doubt a man making the accusation exists. There is a guy in town who's camper up north was attacked by a family of Bigfoots too. He exists.

The fact that somebody makes an accusation doesn't make the accusation true. If more people come forward with similar accusations that can be corroborated, Zimmerman has a problem. Right now there is a leaked tape of an accusation. Nothing more, nothing less. There has been gossip that Travon had acts of violence on his record as well. We will see...

Zimmerman should have just taken the advice of the 911 operator and let the police handle the situation. He is responsible for everything that happened. If he would have just waited 5 more minutes we wouldn't be talking about this.

Lloyd, Whether or not that is true in this case remains to be seen, Lloyd. A snippet from the following link, is a paragraph from the website of a local attorney who practices in the same jurisdiction as the case. He says there:

"Alternatively, a defendant who is an initial aggressor may claim self-defense if: (1) in good faith, he or she withdrew from physical contact, (2) clearly indicated to the other person that he or she desired to withdraw and terminate the use of force, and (3) despite the communication and withdrawal, the other person continued or resumed the use of force. See Section 776.041(2)(b), Florida Statutes."

But I can't.

While Zimmerman may be guilty--and I still think he likely is--how can you, or I, define when aggression begins or ends, or self-defense begins or ends?

Absent an actual videotape of the struggle, how do we know where `stand your ground', begins, ends, or whether it could be invoked by either Zimmerman or even Martin?

Zimmerman's stalking--if he did actually stalk Martin--may have encouraged the incident, but that doesn't necessarily mean stalking is responsible for wrongful death, involuntary manslaughter, or manslaughter.

Only the skimmers and the superficial examiners would buy Ms. O'Rourke's
case.

Why?

Because she is unable to link, directly, in real time, the transcript she quoted, with the part of the discussion, with the dispatcher--about a****holes who get away,

It is therefore impossible to make any definitive conclusion.

What sort of criminal defense attorney, or prosecutor, wouldn't be knocked down to paralegal status, if she wanted a jury to believe--as Ms. O'Rourke has wanted Gather members to believe above--that excerpts and snippets prove continuity.

Graduate Schools of Law do not teach law students to draw conclusions and then work backwards to arrive at cherry-picked evidence.

If you want to do that, then go apply for a job as an entry level CIA data analysis assistant, prior to 9/11. And make sure Vice-President Cheney recommends you for the job.

A few things I've noticed;

Trayvon didn't have a key to the condo.

His cellphone earphones were in his pocket, as in Trayvon ended his call to DeeDee and put the earphones away before reaching Zimmerman.

Zimmerman gets out of his truck and runs after Trayvon for about 10 seconds, then says Trayvon is out of his sight, which puts Trayvon beyond the second row of condos or past the the break between condo units half way down the grassy area in the middle toward Brandy's condo. The assault occurs 35 yards from Zimmerman's truck at the top end of the grassy area on the side closer to his truck. To get there Trayvon has to come back towards Zimmerman's truck from wherever he ran to.

Everybody is racist, how much and what you do with it is what matters.

Chelsea how about that Marissa Alexander case, reading the background and court documents was illuminating.
