According to my regular morning routine, I got my coffee this morning and reported to work here in my home office, still in my jammies with bleary eyes just beginning to focus. As usual, my first order of business was to scan about a dozen news websites to see what, if anything, happened while I was sleeping.
If anything happened overnight, we didn't notice. We’re still playing with Barack Obama’s political football. Everybody is still focused on the President’s announcement last week that he recognizes gay marriage. Well whoop te doo.
Here’s a bulletin. I recognize Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when I see his ugly mug, but that does not equate with, “I embrace the man and wish everyone could be more like him.â€
We are, once again, being victimized by our pathological interest in all things Obama. (Aha! Perhaps the old adage “Familiarity breeds contempt†is the reason POTUS holds his past and his personal history so close to the vest. We might not like him so much if we really knew him.) He has simply tossed us a new toy - in this case, his “brand new position†on same-sex-marriage which, by the way, has never changed at all. He’s always been in favor of gay marriage but his support of same has been downplayed and lied about for the sake of political expediency. On the other hand, you’ve got to hand it to the guy. At least he’s recycling his ideas and not using up precious resources to build sparkly new ones.
Like so many kittens, we’re captivated by this contrived faux mouse and our collective attention is riveted. Sheesh. Here’s another bulletin. We have more important things to ask Barack Obama than whether or not he wants to sell “My two moms support Barack Obama†onesies at his websites.
We’ve got to get beyond this fascination with a man who was mentored as a youngster by at least one card-carrying communist, Frank Marshall Davis, and promoted by the kinds of terrorists (Bill Ayres et al) who blow up police stations and subvert all the ideals which made this nation great.
Lets ask him about the promises he made and never kept. Lets ask him about the wasted spending he pledged to stop….the programs he promised to scrutinize line by line until he found every last wasted dime….lets ask about why so many of us are in employment limbo because his health care legislation threatens the very existence of jobs in small-business across the nation. Lets ask him why he lies when the truth makes a better story.
And yet…here I sit typing furiously about political footballs when I ought to be talking about the economy and Obama’s countless failed policies. Perhaps Obama and his handlers are right. The American public IS stupid!
