The Vampire Diaries season 3 ended with Elena drowning and, unbeknownst to Stefan, who saved Matt first, she had vampire blood in her. That led to the final scene with her opening her eyes in the hospital. That's right, Elena's on her way to becoming a vampire.
Vampire Diaries Season 4 Tease
Now that the finale has aired, the stars can talk about what happened in that last season 3 episode, "The Departed," and Nina Dobrev did just that on Twitter Sunday evening with, "Now that the TVD finale has aired, the cat is out of the bag and I can tweet freely and say :" followed by "I'm a VampireSquared. Ha ! Next seasons gonna be interesting..." Nina Dobrev's second character on the show, Katherine, fled town and isn't going to be returning as long as Klaus is alive. He is, so it doesn't look like fans will get to see her playing both vampire roles anytime soon, depending on what happens next with Klaus in Tyler's body. However, that does depend on how well known it becomes that Klaus is in Tyler's body. Could Katherine return thinking it's safe somehow? Could Dobrev be playing two vampire roles anytime soon on the show?
Nina Dobrev was impressive both as human Elena and vampire Katherine, and now fans will get a chance to see how she does as vampire Elena. She was so good in the finale, and it seems likely she'll be just as good when The Vampire Diaries season 4 begins and Elena's transition starts as well. That in itself is going to lead to some complications, and it's bound to also bring some material that will lead to some impressive performances from the cast, especially Dobrev.
