On Once Upon a Time season one, it's all been leading to this. Henry (Jared Gilmore) has eaten the apple from the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) has finally realized the truth of the curse on the season finale, "A Land Without Magic."
But rather than kill Regina, the sheriff needs her help. Because if there's one thing the two leading ladies have in common, it's their love of Henry.
As Emma and Regina search for a way to save young Henry, in the world of fairytales, Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) escapes the clutches of the Evil Queen, only to come across someone willing to help him find Snow: Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle). But if the Prince is to get this help, he needs to do the evil man a favor: hide his true love potion inside the belly of a beast.
That true love potion is what can save Henry, because Emma can kill the beast in Storybrooke. But first, Emma needs her father's sword.
Still, Emma is scared and worried, thinking she's unable to be the savior she's supposed to be, and so she goes to visit August (Eion Bailey). Apparently, she needed yet another pep talk, even though that's what she's been getting all season long from her son. August encourages her by turning back into Pinocchio before her very eyes.
Just as Prince Charming needed to fight the beast to feed her the potion, so too does Emma fight to kill. The beast is none other than the Evil Queen's sworn enemy, Maleficent (Kristin Bauer) trapped as a dragon.
While dramatic, the ending for the dragon is a no brainer on the Once Upon a Time season finale. The Prince throws the potion inside an egg into the dragon, and after Emma fails to kills Maleficent with a gun, she finally tosses the sword, blowing the dragon to pieces.
But then Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin steals the egg and potion from Emma, and the leading ladies get a call from the hospital. Henry has died. But has he? They say that true love conquers all, but what about a mother's love for her son?
Just as Prince Charming saves the world of fairytales when he kisses Snow White, so too does Emma when she whispers "I love you" and kisses her son. The curse is broken, and everyone remembers who they are.
Snow White and Prince Charming reunite. Belle (Emilie De Ravin), who has been released by a Jefferson (Sebastian Stan) intent on getting back at Regina, remembers who she is and declares her love for Rumpelstiltskin.
Since everyone remembers, they warn Regina: she may want to find a place to hide.
But why are all the people still in Storybrooke and not in their magical lands? And what is Rumpelstiltskin planning to do with the true love potion? He releases it into a well, where the waters have the power to return what has been lost. When the potion hits the water, a purple cloud blows through town. "Magic is coming," Rumpelstiltskin declares. "Because magic is power." And this makes the evil Regina smile.
What did you think of the Once Upon a Time season finale, "A Land Without Magic"? Did you ever think Henry would die? And what do you think is in store for all the fairytale characters in season two?
