I agree with you that the far right is scary and they are close to totalitarianism.

I used to tutor college- level history students and it was hard for them to understand.

The Democrats of the 19t century were pro slavery, anti Black, anti intellectuals who favored the ruling classes.

Today it is the Republicans who are anti union, anti Black, anti intellectuals, and pro ruling class.

The great Republicans of the past including Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt were liberals and they would be more at home in today's Democratic party.

Reminds me of the Bizzaro world in the old Superman comics. Where everything is upside down and reverse. As much as the Republican Party covers itself in the red, white and blue they are anything but freedom for everyone.

We need FDR, and President Obama falls short of being FDR. But Obama is the best we have right now.

I hope for a big Demicratic victory this year and this time I hope the Democrats act like Democrats and not like Republicans. Most of the Blue Dogs were voted out, thank goodness.
