Rights are defined in most legal dictionaries as entitlements.
Privileges or licenses are granted from a legal authority such a law or statute made by a state legislature, or by the Congress or the President.
With Obama's coming out about his flip-flop on gay marriage, leftists are once again demanding their RIGHTS, as they see them.
Whether you believe you were created from a pile of goo, or by GOD when you were born, you came into the world butt naked, with NOTHING.
Your parents or legal guardians fed you, clothed you, and gave you shelter. If you were one of the lucky ones, they also gave you love, support, and protected you.
Our Founding Fathers gave us the following LAWS, which are PRIVILEGES to name a few, and they CANNOT be taken from any American:

- Freedom of Speech
- Freedom of Religion
- Right to Bear Arms
Marriage is not a right, it is a privilege.
Abortion is not a right, and as despicable as this sounds to most normal people, getting an abortion is a privilege granted to women who don't want the responsibilty of taking care of another human being, or were too uneducated to protect themselves from becoming pregnant.

Leftists will demand their RIGHTS, they will demand HUMAN RIGHTS, and at the same time demand the privilege to snuff out the life of a baby growing inside a woman's womb.
They also will never understand that RIGHTS come with responsibilities. The progressives have fed them garbage for the last 100 years and made them believe that everything they demand in this world is their RIGHT.
It is not. We are privileged to have been born in America, a country whose Constiution is the only one that has lasted.
If you don't think you have enough entitlements here, perhaps you should live elsewhere. My guess is you won't stay too long and will be crawling back here.
With the current "Everything is a Right" administration now running the country, I also believe that if they stay in power for four more years, we won't have the country we had when you left.
Please understand the difference between your rights and privileges afforded to you.

Someone may have said it was something people could do, but it is not a RIGHT in America.
If it was a right, the law of the land wouldn't define it as between a man and a woman. But it isn't even a right for a man and woman to marry.
There is no constitutional right to marry whomever you please. Marriage is a contract extended to those who qualify. No one can marry a close blood relative, or a child, or someone who is already married, or someone of the same sex. Society can and does place conditions on the institution of marriage. If, as Andrew Sullivan says, "The right to marry whomever you want is a fundamental civil right," how do we say 'no' to a woman who wants to become the third wife of a polygamist"?
It is also interesting to consider that no one is restricting the access any qualifying individual to marriage. If a single homosexual adult wishes to marry, he may. But he must meet the standards of the contract: he must marry someone who is not currently married, he must marry someone who is of legal age, and he must marry someone of the opposite sex. If he chooses not to meet those qualifications, then he is willingly refusing to enter the contract - it is not denied to him.

Where did this mindset come from that you don't have to work for whatever it is you THINK you deserve?
I've never known anyone who believed those things.
In America (and I truly don't give a damn about anywhere else right now), marriage is accepted as the norm by government and most religions, as well as by most religions. The fact that 50% of all marriages end in divorce is irrelevant to that perception. People accept marriage as the normal state of being between two people who love each other. NOBODY except you few defines it as a privilege that someone gets to 'grant' based on anything. It may be a contract, licensed and accepted by the State, but it remains the norm, not a privilege.
Do you even bother to read posts or just the headlines? LOL
Privileges or licenses are granted from a legal authority such a law or statute made by a state legislature, or by the Congress or the President.
Last time I checked you need a LICENSE to get MARRIED.
Marriage between a man and a woman is the LAW OF THE LAND, courtesy of Wild Bill Clinton, of all people.
People also love their companion animals but the govenment would not grand them a license to get married, anymore than cousins or siblings would get one.
It's federal law, Chuck.
No one but the lunatic left fringe defines marriage as a RIGHT.
Check the Bill of Rights, Chuck. Which amendment covers MARRIAGE?
It is your opinion that it is a RIGHT. REad the post again to find out what I think about that.
Nope. Not havin' it. The folks on this site arguing against gay marriage have been givingup the license argument all week. They're all willing to have that... just don't call it marriage. My argument is that the "privilege" of calling the union of two people under the law a "marriage" is bogus. There's no one out there to grant it.
We're not talking about beastiality here, or pedophilia, or incestuous unions - that's just a leetle bit absurd. Wait, no... it's utterly asinine, just as it was when it was used to justify continuation of anti-miscegenation laws.
Don't need the Bill of Rights on this one, silly goose. Not a right. Not a privilege. Simply a common bond in society, accepted by all. And, BTW... it NEEDS to be heard by SCOTUS, just like the anti-miscegenation laws, or it becomes a patchwork of places where people can and can't live legally as married couples.
You can't claim that marriage is a RIGHT, not in the same way Freedom of Speech or Freedom of Religion is a Right. You can proclaim, "I have a right to" but not legally, you don't
Who's taking it to the Supreme Court? Obama padded the court with Kagan and Sotomayor, but I think you'd have a tough time getting it passed Thomas, Kennedy, and Scalia. Ginsberg has one foot in the grave, I don't think there are two marbles left rolling around in her head. Would she even understand the question?
How many times do I have to say I don't care if gays get married. For now, it's the law of the land, period.
Do you have a poll to show where it's accepted by all? If that were true, wouldn't someone since Clinton have tried to argue DOMA at the SC level?
How many times has it come up for a vote and states voted no?
You can't blame everyone who's not jumping up and down demanding gay marriage becomes legal, for those who voted against it.
Again, you cannot compare the anti-mixed race marriage to the gay marriage issue. The gays' struggle does not compare to the blacks' struggle in America.
I've voiced my opinion on that subject numerous times as well. There is no comparison.
Gays weren't slaves in America because they were gay. Blacks were. That's one way they're not comparable. There are many, many others.
I joined Gather, I'm a member of Gather and when I clicked on Find Groups and the Channels all popped up first. I joined those groups. They said I was a member. That just showed me posts from those channels when I logged onto the main page.
I don't know what you mean by not being a member or being denied, I'm a Gather member or I wouldn't be posting.
As far as you selecting which groups I'm allowed to be a member of, or where I can post to, I wasn't aware you owned this joint.
All that ever came up was garbage posts from you or Chelsea, and yes I did click on the link, Remove Membership.
I googled Skyword and see what you're talking about. I would never even think to apply to actually work here. LOL
I have a full time job online, Chucky, running our business website. This I do for my charity. And I must say I'm doing very well. I feel good knowing I can make leftists such as yourself jump through hoops, all for a worth cause.
And since I know that now, I won't be contributing to any of yours or Chelsea's pay check. I wouldn't even do it for charity. I make enough money to send them just writing my posts and commenting.
Silly Chuck. No wonder you hate the rich and successful people. You depend on page views for income. That's sad really...and hysterical.
The only similarity between black oppression (AFTER the Civil War) and gay oppression (now) is marriage - anti-miscegenation laws and denial of marriage. Blacks being slaves and gays not is an irrelevant comparison.
Oh, on another post you said I disappeared from this one. Got called to dinner... spent a couple of hours away from the computer. OK with you?
Chuck, you behave in the same way all leftists behave. You delete comments you disagree with and you think you have the power to remove people from groups if their opinion differs from yours, as well.
I think you are taking the credibility of this social networking site a little too seriously. I would never expend the energy I do on my business website, as I do here.
Here, I only like to post blurbs that ruffle the feathers of people like you.
Try telling that to your other leftists Gather friends that gay rights is civil rights. I tried to argue that there was NO comparison.
I don't have any left over to worry about when people can get a license to get married.
