Apparently, the love of money is the root of all politics.
Â
I thought we were broke…so broke that China has become our Sugar Daddy…so broke that our president bows to the king of Saudi Arabia.
Â
So where is all this money coming from and where did the recession go?
Â
A few weeks back George Clooney held a fundraiser that netted Barack Obama $15 million – this on top of the nearly $200 million Obama already has stashed away for his Second Coming. (The exact figure is $196, 909, 097, as of March, per NY Times.) I imagine that Romney also has some money coming in, plus his own wealth, but nothing compared to the incumbent.
Â
In case you think this is a rant against one single candidate, Obama, no, it’s about finding and funding the best president money can buy…either party.
Â
The Times and others are joyful, telling us that these figures prove that Obama is as popular as ever. Yes, money talks and yes, money measures love.
Â
If greed is good, it’s especially good when it comes to purchasing high office.
Â
I used to think that we’re supposed to vote for the wisest man or woman in the land. I was wrong. We vote for the money.
Â
Who is most qualified? The man who strikes it rich!
Â
Romney raised about $600,000 at a Trump gala, which means he’s less qualified to be president, I suppose.
Â
Show me the money and, congratulations, I’ll show you our next president.
Â
Going back to that Hollywood fundraiser, certainly these were all celebrity donors, properly Liberal and properly sensitive to the poor…so $15 million! Imagine if these contributors to the Obama campaign had, instead, gone to the poorest neighborhoods around LA and distributed that money one thousand dollars at a time going house to house!
Â
Now that would have been Liberalism in its truest sense.
Â
So maybe it’s not about feeding the poor as much as it is about feeding a president.
Â
Again, if we’re so broke, where did that other $200 million come from…not from China. No, it came from regular Americans who have MONEY to spend and rather than spend it on the needy, the widow and the orphan, they chose to spend it all on one man. I guess this makes sense, though I can’t figure it out.

The recession is over because the stimulus the President signed into law a few years ago took positive effect.
I do agree that the wealthy should do more to help the country. So, maybe if we all send letters requesting that our GOP leaders support that agenda and NOT BLOCK IT, we could probably get things done...
This country is still unemployed and those that do work do not have the quality of jobs that they once had.... Many people have to do more work for less pay and hardly if any benefits... Is this the America that had come so far as to give people a better quality of life? We still need jobs... We need good jobs... We need benefits... We need gas prices to be lowered.... We need someone in the WH that is not all about race to try to get him another 4 yrs... Or someone who takes on the hard issues of this country not someone who wants to be a tv celebrity , throw lavish parties, and jet set all around the world for many vacations... We need a president who works for this country not against it... There are more people on some sort of assistance than ever before, we have a president who has driven up our debt more than any other president... We dont need another welfare president... We need one that listens to the people and trys to solve some of our problems not compound them..then does a song and dance around them...If he wants to be a singer, then he should of taken singing lessons and left the presidency for a decent person who took the job seriously...
Vickey W.
Oh, but it does... I think Jack has made a very good point... If this country is so broke, how do the rich still throw money out there? Why not give it to the needy? Or why not ask the rich to pay higher taxes as the president suggested instead of making the middle class and poor pick up the tab AGAIN. I agree with this portion as previously stated
The libs always swear that they are so generous and the the repbubicans are the ones who want to throw grandma off of the bridge. Well, the libs are trying to get the rich pay more and the republicans are protecting the rich...Why does it seem we are agreeing but it is still turned into a debate???
Politics should not have anything to do with money... I also agree, however, in reality it does
Maybe, it should be judged on what is in a candidates heart instead of how much he has in his wallet... Well, when a person supports Obama for this very reason, those on the right get ANGRY. AGAIN...I agree
If we got back to the issues in this country instead of a bunch of celebs(who dont even know what reality is all about) then maybe, we could come to the aide of our people that are hurting right here in this county/ AGAIN...I AGREE! The celebs come in because most campaigns need money to survive. They have money and they throw it at whom ever they support. Its not to say that the candidate is bought. In most cases they are, but, we cannot assume, either. Some celebs do have a passion for political issues so they throw their support behind any candidate who share their concerns. ITS NORMAL. If Romney cannot find a celeb's support to save his life, then that's his own fault.
This country is still unemployed and those that do work do not have the quality of jobs that they once had.... TRUE
You sounded good until you got to the part of WH...You see, someone in the WH IS TRYING to get America the things we need. Its your GOP BLOCKING every piece of beneficial legislation. You had a very valid point up until you blamed the wrong person. If you feel Obama is doing this for another term, what do you think Romney is doing? Especially with his bad track record on killing jobs, against most women's issues, etc
Or someone who takes on the hard issues of this country not someone who wants to be a tv celebrity , throw lavish parties, and jet set all around the world for many vacations... We need a president who works for this country not against it... Name ONE THING Obama has done against this country besides being the first African-American president. Everything you named is what he has accomplished, so what is the real reason here...LOL
And Obama hasn't? PROVE IT...because I know you are not telling the truth
What are you bellowing about Vickie?? We have a president who fights for Americans EVERYDAY. You just do not like him. You are willing to cut off your nose to spite your face which is DOUBLE DUMB in my opinion. If you are willing to castrate someone who has done good just because he doesn't look like you, to replace him with someone who mean you no good because he looks like you, that is the dumbest thing in the world to do. Name ONE JOB Romney created? I can name over 500,000 he destroyed. Name one Job Obama created? I can name over 1,000,000 but caNNOT NAME ANY HE DESTROYED. You have to look at the facts
I have no idea how I am going to vote....if at all...but one thing I noticed as the years have passed is that the "best" people want nothing to do with the irrelevent scourging and character assassination that goes with running for high office. nowadays the ideal is somebody with no past. None.
Today we would never get a JFK. he used to say he'd get headaches if he didn't have [extra-marital] sex daily. then there was that poor governor of New York who had to PAY for sex. damn. his lowliest state trooper never had to pay for sex....but i digress.
I know this is sort of off the point but all that money going to...uh... the candidates that run for president these days just kind of adds to the farce.
Yes to what John said about well known agitators.
It's sad how easy it has been for them to infiltrate, and how easy it is to miss a point when it comes too close to undermining a needed falsehood. Thanks for condensing your point to even more balsamic clarity, but out still still be missed
to illustrate: the year is 2014 and B. Hussien Obama is hard at work on a constitutional amendment to repeal the two term limitation on the presidency. The Wyoming constitutional convention is set to vote on the amendment.
B. Hussien Obama gets word the measure will not pass. He orders the 11th Airborne to Cheyenne. Several members of the would be majority are arrested and thrown in prison. Attempts to file habeas writs are foiled as federal soldiers seize the documents and tear them up.
The remaning delegates meet and Wyoming enthusiastically endorses ther "President for Life" Amendment.
This is exactly what Lincoln did in Maryland.
Lincoln's strategy for winning the war consisted of throwing waves of federal soldiers against the Confederate lines. casualties were enormous as even the poor wounded federal soldiers were likely to die after limbs were amputated without pain killers.
If I were the parent of a federal soldier I would be OUTRAGED at this disregard for the lives of the individual troops. As you know I have had experience as the parent of a federal soldier in combat and I thank G-d Lincoln wasn't in charge.
does B. Hussien Obama?
can we fault him in light of our history?
Maryland my Maryland
his torch is at thy temple door
Maryland my Maryland
AVENGE THE PATRIOTIC GORE
THAT FLECKED THE STREETS OF BALTIMORE
and be the battle queen of yore
Maryland my Maryland
AMEN
I hope it's true. As a Catholic I am truly fearful that official persecution of the Church will begin in 2013. I am very frustrated that once again the media controlled who the republicans nominated when they have some of the most capable men in the country.
first McCain...now Mittenhead.
Yes... I am "sore afraid".
but this is even more why I despise the nomination of a nitwit like Romney.this was NOT the time to do a McCain and ensure defeat.
it makes me sick but the republicans fiddle while Rome burns. whaT a time to turn on the poor, the disabled. the first thing those tea party swine in Congress do is figure where to cut medicare and social security while they pocket their criminal salaries.
I can't ignore these things. So I remember what the Irgun terrorist said in EXODUS. "if every Jew had met every Nazi with a gun...."
Like July 31, 2010...I'm not going quietly.
G-d help us all with a special blessing to you Jack. I've said before I just can't IMAGINE how awful this is for you.
What i fear from your side of the fence is the denial of benefits to those who earned them, when gangsters in congress make unconscionable salaries and have voted themselves pension arrangement that are nothing short of criminal.
I do apologize for rambling. As Jack knows tho, I try to forget about politics except when my blood pressure demands a blowoff.
Bless you and your good thoughts.
