Catholic Bishops don't like the Girl Scouts? WTF?

You need to be aware that the Girl Scouts are not that liberal, it's just that they are liberal when compared to a bunch of extremely conservative bishops. Are the Girl Scouts in the pocket of Planned Parenthood? That's ridiculous on the face of it- the answer is "of course not."

We need to understand that there is a circular loop in Catholic male hierarchy conservatism. It works like this: The Pope is conservative, so the Pope appoints Cardinals and bishops who are conservative too. The Pope then eventually dies of old age. The college of Cardinals is convened. They select (BIG SURPRISE) another conservative guy to be Pope. The cycle starts over again. There are plenty of liberal people in the holy orders of the Catholic Church. They just don't ever get to serve in positions of power.

Um, maybe they should worry more about their employees... for years the management of the Catholic Parishes looked the other way and shuffled around people who should have not been allowed near children... and they are in an uproar about the Girl Scouts

They do not appear to have a good record themselves when it comes to the abuse of their flocks children.... um, isn't this close to a farce on their part.

But you don't see the corresponding article, "Girl Scouts to scrutinize Catholic Bishops", because the Church has all the power.The mission of the Girl scouts is to empower young women both locally and globally, which the Church sees as a decidedly liberal notion. In poor countries, the empowerment of women must of necessity begin with family planning, freeing women from the dangers of repetitive childbirth and allowing them to raise a smaller number of children with more resources and attention.

The hierarchy of the Catholic Church has a disquieting resemblance to the way Iranian clergy select their Supreme Leader and vice versa . Why does this not bother people more?

empowered females, disturbing. Nothing changes there in 2000 years. Once the male disciples grabbed the reins of what they called Christianity, Mary Magdalene was never heard of again.

So much poverty and misery in the world, so much good large, wealthy outfit like the Church could do, and they're going after the Girl Scouts?

Picking on kids is SO much more in keeping with Christian teaching than feeding the hungry and clothing the naked.
