Tiger Woods missed a shot yesterday and he blames it on the click of a spectator's cell phone. Cell phones aren't allowed to make noise on the course during a tournament; they're to stay on silent mode. This woman was apparently using her cell phone to take a picture of Woods, which is also not allowed once the tournament starts.
When Tiger was in the middle of a swing he heard the click of a cell phone camera which he says made him miss the shot by going 10 feet past the hole. While the rules and regulations say no cell phone cameras in use and the phones should have their ringers off, PGA Officials find this hard to enforce, according to the New York Daily News.
Rickie Fowler's caddie turned to the woman and told her what she just did to Woods by clicking her cell phone. At the same time Woods looked up and yelled to the woman "Not in the middle of my swing." The only response that the woman offered up was "Really?"
Woods complained later on about the cell phone incidents growing in numbers and actually costing guys the tournaments. Woods went on to say that "a shot on Thursday is the same as a shot on Sunday," conveying it doesn't matter at what point in the tournament the player gets distracted, once is enough to screw up the tournament for the golfer.
Friday had fans of Woods wondering if he'd even make the cut or not after watching the way he was playing. This wasn't due to cell phones or camera shots this time. Woods was just having an all around rough day. Was the cell phone incident the start of some bad luck?
