Melissa Gorga and her husband Joe recently listed their Montville Township mansion for $3.8 million. The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple claim to wanting to move to nearby Franklin Lakes which is closer to Joe's work. They plan to build a home there and are currently looking for properties in the area.
However, a source close to the couple tells Radar Online, that being closer to Joe's work is not the main reason for moving. "Joe owes a lot of people money. They have the house on the market because they can't pay the mortgage now that the interest rate on it has exploded."
Their Montville home, which was built in 2009, boasts six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, four fireplaces and a three-car garage. Joe built the home in hopes of selling it right away for the asking price of $4.1 but it didn't sell so he and his family moved in. They were previously living in a much smaller home.
"Joe built the house as a spec home, hoping to find a buyer. As a builder, he got an interest free loan for a period of time in which he was to sell the house. When his wife was hired for RHONJ, the Gorgas decided to abandon their home and move in to give themselves an appearance of wealth that they don't really have."
If Joe and Melissa Gorga really are having money problems, they likely will straighten them out soon. With her Real Housewives gig and promising music career it shouldn't be a problem.
