I have 3 dogs and 2 of them are adults who love to jump up on us every chance they get!!! LOL

Carol, when I rescued my 3rd adult dog from the shelter, she had issues because she was tied up outside 24/7. She had some funny quirks, which she still has, but she also had to be re-trained like a puppy.

I used this entire site, and I still read articles from there from time to time.

I think they have to grow out of it with constand reminders not to do so if they will be a big dog when fully grown. Princess won't jump

The only thing I can suggest is to take the puppy and get him trained not to jump up, to sit, to fetch and so on

I put my hand on top of the dog's head and in a very low, calm voice say, "down" -- they usually get it, eventually

You literally turn your back on him until he behaves as you wish him to then praise him for his good behavior, it takes discipline on every ones part to help him become a wonderful dog!

I would go to Dr to find out why,, my hubby has thin skin for a reason, he has cream he has to use daily,for his skin condition, if he bumps into a wall he bleeds,,

My left arm was all scraped up my my wife's dogs. still have a few bruises from it, I just keep telling them off. Don't jump as much as they were now/

You shouldn't bruise that bad. Do you have low iron or are you anemic? I have both and bruise easily. But even my puppy hasn't bruised but he has sliced me open with his nails.

takes training, but can be done...and they will calm as they grow...

I always say you just have to look at me cross eyed and I bruise

I bruise easily too....and I have marks from our dog jumping up.

You probably don't. I have thin skin too. The lightweight things they make for people who have carpal tunnel help give some protection.

I had this problem with my dog many years ago. When the dog jumps up and you're standing, you're supposed to knee him in the chest to get him to stop. My dog totally ignored this teaching technique, so I got used to putting my arm behind his head so when he jumped up, he'd hit the back of his head on my arm. It never helped, but it kept him from whacking into me. Good luck!
