let me get this straight. The USA, which does not have adequate oil resources to meet our current demand, is conflicted on solar power and has political leadership in Congress that prefers not to incentivize it.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, which has the largest oil reserves of any nation and in financial terms would seem to have little reason for interest in solar, plant to seek 100 billion in investments to construct 41,000 megawatts of solar power over the next 20 years.
*sigh* Â Out- "visioned" by one of the most socially and politically backward nations on the face of planet earth.

Well-run dictatorships are more efficient, but power generally corrupts. Freedom is a great responsibility, and people are too easily manipulated, leading a polarized and corporate led America to wallow where others plan for the future. The founding fathers tried to find a way of preserving freedom under the rule of law, but they did not adequately control the rise of power outside of the balanced powers of government, and prudent management of resources takes a back seat to short-term gains.
The Saudis are using their oil as leverage, realizing it will not last, where we are in denial, refusing to change our path past our own peak oil. And yet theirs is the hide-bound culture. Something is rotten in the state of our politics.
