The new Meek Mill mixtape download for "Dreamchasers 2" has taken the internet by storm, to the point it caused a website outage. At least one download spot for the new mixtape crashed under the heavy demand for the rising rap star's new work.
A report from XXL Mag indicated that "as of 4:15 EST on Monday afternoon, Dreamchasers 2 has hit over 282,000 downloads on DatPiff.com." That heavy amount of activity with so many people trying to get the free mixtape download ultimately led to the website crashing. It wasn't the first time a Maybach Music Group (MMG) rapper did so either.
XXL notes that Rick Ross' "Rich Forever" mixtape did the same thing back in January of 2012. Ross, one of Meek's mentors, and the founder of the MMG record label, appears on the new Meek mixtape. Other big names who show their skills off for the project include Drake, Wale, Fabolous, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, and Big Sean. With Meek's wordplay and the level of star power on this outing, that makes his upcoming official album even more appealing.
It's very clear that Meek Mill should enjoy good sales when his first solo album releases. Right now it's got a targeted release date on August 28th. June 26 is the set release date for a new MMG compilation album, while Rick Ross' next solo project is supposed to drop on July 31st. With all these projects going on, MMG just might be taking over hip hop in 2012!
