FOR SINS UNTOLD
© 2012 by David Wainland
Moonlight through standing palms
Reflecting on ancient beaches
Scattered tumulus graves
Secrets buried for millennia
Travelers from afar
Lovers from lost centuries
Holding hands in a forever
Touched by glistening waters
Before the shores were breached
By invading eastern sails
Sacrificed for sins untold
Still not revealed
They lay waiting for the tide
To wash away the sand
For the moon to dress
Their bleached bones
Love endures the wash of time
Dark skies abhor the loss
Tremulous stars offer refuge
Their tomb, unforgiving

I like the dark wash with which you've painted such a beautiful tropical area. It reminds me of Jean Rhys' novel Wide Sargasso Sea.

Ghostly forms walking the beaches in search of their long lost soul mates...?
Their bleached bones
Those are my favorite lines. Beautiful.
