We Found A Dog

I have a pretty unbelievable story to share with you guys.

Last week my mother found a dog on the side of the road, in a little carrier, with a note that said "My name Phillip, please take me home." I live in Arizona, it is summer, and someone left this poor little dog (a chihuahua) inside a crate on the side of the road. Isn't that terrible!?

Of course my mom brought the dog home (who could leave it??) and this little dog has a lot of issues he needs fixed up. He has HORRIBLE duclaws that need to be removed, he needs to be neutered, and he has a skin condition on his ears. He also has bad teeth, so we've ordered him a teeth cleaning too.

This dog was so scared when we brought him in our home (we have cats and large dogs) and he is only just starting to feel safe. He stills spends a majority of his time watching everyone from afar, but he will occasionally come up to us (tail caustiously wagging). Hopefully we can get this little guy to feel safe here.

Not 100% sure if we'll be keeping him or trying to find him a home, but I'm hoping after we get him al fixed up and spend all that money on him, my dad will see that keeping him makes sense! lol

Thank You Thomas :) He is doing well, he's starting to TRY and play with u s and he does wag his tail sometimes, so that's a good sign. He is heartworm negative so that's good!! We've gotten him all his vaccines and ointment for his ears, so hopefully it can only get better from here.

Aww Thank You :) I hope he rewards me by allowing me to start my animal rescue somewhere down the road (hopefully in the 5 year range). Haha, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for that! :)

We've gotten the ointment for his ears and his vaccines. His neuter appointment, duclaw removal, and teeth cleaning is all set for May 17th. I'm hoping after his neuter he'll start to calm down faster and feel safer.

God Bless all of you, the poor little guy could have died of dehydration. I just do not understand people. Have you checked to see if he was stolen? Perhaps he has a chip and his real owner is frantic trying to find him. Now that would be ideal. My prayer for whoever did this is to be stranded on a lonely road in a cage during "desert" spring time, its always too hot to bear.

Yes we did see if he had a microchip, none.
He had NOTHING with him in his crate; no food, water, no towel or blanket. And he was sitting in his own pee. It was a pretty bad scene.
He is doing better now though, and hopefully it'll only keep get better for him.

That is a good idea. I actually got a cute picture of him laying with one of our dogs. I'll have to add it when I get the time, and give you an update on how Phillip's doing.

Yeah lol :P But we all keep accidently calling him random name. Like, for some reason I keep calling him Joseph...I don't even know where Joseph came from! lol

LOL, looks like he isn't very fond of his name, I guess I wouldn't be either after what those A___holes did to him. Maybe you should name him Lucky, afterall he is lucky you found him when you did.

Thank you everyone. We love animals, and there is no way any of us could have left a dog sitting in a crate like that. He is a really good dog, it'll just take a little bit of time for him to come out of his shell.

I imagine he is scared to death of people right now. My personal prayer for those that are cruel to animals or children is that they get the exact same treatment X3 done to them.

I once read about an Eastern culture that would put these kind of people in front of a line of people armed with bamboo sticks and each person was allowed to swat the criminal one time for his crime. It would be a fitting punishment.

God bless you and your family for doing such a wonderful thing....of rescuing the poor little dog...........it's just unbelievable how people can do such horrible things.....like leaving a poor dog in the outrageous heat like that.......our family's avid pet lovers.....I'm sure we would have done the same thing, as it is so heartbreaking to see animals treated so badly.

great news , I have some advice,, I too have a chihuahua, when she get nervous,, I take her lay her on my chest( sitting upright), and give her gentle massages, I start at the neck and work my way down, she love it and stop shaking so, there are time when she will just crawl on my lab and like ask for a massage, it so relaxing for her...
