Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives drove the Camaro to Stillwater, Minnesota, Santa Rosa, California, and Portsmouth, Virginia to find places where the unexpected is extraordinary and the fans are chowing down on the best they can get with Guy's seal of approval.![]()
In Stillwater, on the St. Croix River, he visited Smalley's Caribbean Barbecue and Pirate Bar and met the bearded and tattooed owner and chef, Shawn Smalley who introduced Guy to his Jamaican favorites. They made Jamaican jerk tacos from pork cooked over pistachio wood imported directly from Jamaica. He made jerk sauce that had Guy nearly crying. The place is just like a pirate ship with many decorations from the era of the pirate ships and word has it that Shawn even had a pirate wedding. Guy got to try the Triple Six Wings with the hottest sauce around with three of his friends who looked like they all needed a 911 call after tasting them.
In Santa Rosa, fans finally got to see Guy's first restaurant: Johnny Garlic's California Pasta Grill. Fans even got to see Guy's parents, Penny and Jim Ferry, who mortgaged their house before their retirement just for the restaurant. Guy showed viewers his mom's inspired Onion Tortilla Cake. Guy introduced fans to his business partner, Steve Gruber. The food is a mixture of several fusions like Asian/Mexican and Italian/Chinese and you name it!
Next he went to Portsmouth to Harvey's Hot Dogs II, with the best hot dogs and Southern food around. Chicken and Dumplings made right before Guy's eyes and those eyes popped out when he tasted the outcome. Hot dogs that snapped when you bite them, burgers, chili and local favorites ala Richie and Michelle Wood who purchased the place from the original owners.
When Guy travels to places far and wide, the fans are just waiting to visit these places on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
