The proposed pipeline which would bring tar sands oil down through the U.S. isn't to increase the U.S. oil supply. It would go into the world market and very likely end up in China. Of course, and spills would end up most likely in the U.S.

People also make the mistaken assumption that a Canadian company will create thousands of jobs for Americans. Not so. In canada, they are touting it as creation of jobs mainly for Canadian work crews who will be transported to and housed on Canadian-assembled temporary US construction sites.

Of course. With few exceptions, and the U.S. isn't one of the exceptions, the price of oil is set on the world market. After all, isn't that what the wing nuts want? the market to set the price.
